James Mason in Lolita fantastic, must have been a very difficult role to have taken at the time, very dangerous subject material, Peter Sellars cast as an even more devious sexual thief, I couldnt envisage casting those two in those roles, I had not seen that film in 20 years, Though, I loved, Masons role as Rommel, had Hitler left the strategic planning to his Generals, the Jewish question, would have been greatly downgraded, WW2 outcome could have been so different, I digress

Peter Sellers was a HUGE talent, not only at acting, both straight and comedy, but comedy pure and simple, his contribution to the "Goon Show" was big, and he did some solo stuff that was original and hilarious.

A great shame the great man died so (relatively) young.

I love "The Party". I first saw it as a teenager and laughed my head off.

Some of my fondest memories are of my dad & I watching the Pink Panther movies when I was a kid and laughing our asses off. I always thought Sellers was an incredible actor. I saw the HBO movie The Life & Death Of Peter Sellers with Geoffrey Rush as Peter Sellers. I have to say, I lost quite a bit of respect for the man. According the the film, he was a miserable, abusive prick.

According to the people who knew Sellers, the Geoffrey Rush bio-pic was dead on. Director Blake Edwards, who did several movies with him could barely stand the guy.

I agree Low-Key...I have the same memories with my Dad...almost pee'd myself numerous times laughing at Inspector Clouseau!

" There is a time to laugh and a time not to laugh, and this is not one of them"

[Inspector Clouseau, disguised as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, explains why he can't give a tip to the postman]

    "I'm a little short"

" Facts, Hercule, facts! Nothing matters but the facts. Without them the science of criminal investigation is nothing more than a guessing game"

" I believe everything and I believe nothing. I suspect everyone and I suspect no one"

"Now let me bring you up to speed .. we know nothing! You are now up to speed."

"We shall see who is the one that will be saying nonsensical things that are sensing of nonsense."

    "Does yer dewg bite?"

" But that's a priceless Steinway! Clouseau: Not anymore!"

" Do you have a REUM?"
