That's great, HIS... Any step in the right direction is progress, in my opinion. You never know...treat your mom with love and kindness, avoid all subjects JW, and establish a rapport with her based on things you have in common (if she'll let you talk to her once in awhile). You may be surprised at how much she is willing to shirk the WTBTS mandate on shunning when she realizes you don't want to devour her.
I've actually had a bit of a breakthrough with my own parents. My mom called me out on having a bf lol. She asked me point blank if I was seeing someone, and I opted for the truth. She was surprisingly fine with it, asked me about him, let me talk about him, etc. She and my dad both said that when I move, they want to keep in touch...even though they know I want nothing to do with the org. They wish my brother would keep in touch as well, but he has issues he's dealing with. She finished by saying that she just wants me to be happy...and she hopes my bf makes me happy. That's a huge leap coming from two people who said "If you stop going to meetings and decide to live a worldly lifestyle, we can't have anything to do with you".
