Being inactive for over a year now, many things
have come to "light" about the religion I was raised
in. Much of witch is becuase of the insight and fine posts
of many on this site, thank you! Of all the topics
posted, weather it is on the blood issue or 1914 or
144,000, many times it just comes down to if you want to
beleive it or not. This is the case between my wife and I.
She will beleive anything and everything they tell her.
Does it say abstaine from blood, yes. How literal you
want to take it is the question that is reasonably
disproven by reasonable people. Can you come up with 1914
by misaplying dates, changing the meaning of that date,
and so on, yes, as paper thin as it is, you could.Does
revelation say 144,000, yes, literal or symbolic is the
question.I could keep going but you get the picture.
What I cant figure is the staple of JW'S is living for
ever on earth. As i see it there is absolutly no bible
basis for this. The closest they come is Ps,37:29 and Matt
5:5 witch are vary vague. On the other hand hundreds of
refrences to heaven.I ask my wife and get the tired
old riddle of 'what if adam and eve never sinned' bit, YAWN!
Am i missing something, why dont they get taken to task
    on this more?

    sorry for the typos

Do ya think they (the human mankind) are happy to go up to heaven when they have got the opportunity of living an everlasting life here on earth (perhaps in 10, 20 or 30 yrs; nobody knows?)

    FOLKS HERE ON THIS BOARD:
    I APPEAL TO YOU ALL:

USE YOUR MINDS !!! OPEN YOUR EYES !!!

I've been out for six months now and still struggle with some of the teachings. The idea of going to heaven is becoming more appealing, but I keep reading Psm 37:29. You mentioned the scripture in Matt as well. Are these the only two scriptures that refer to an earthly hope? If so, then I feel better about a heavenly prospect. It's still all so confusing, but I surely believe that God is not working solely with the WTS.

Ps 37 is vary vague, thats my point. Matt 5:5 says
"happy are the mild tempered ones, since they will inherit
the earth." then in Matt 5:10 it says "happy are those
who have been persecuted for righteousness sake, since
the kingdom of the heavens belong to them."
What if i am mild tempered and also been persecuted
    for righteousness sake?
Also why be so clear in the new testiment about
heaven for such a few amount of people.(144,000 they say)
yet be so vague for the majority(great crowd)
    That the question I have.

There are many other scriptures that mentions the purpose for the earth:

Gen. 1:27, 28 What was Jehovahs original purpose for the earth?
    Prov. 2:21, 22
Isaiah 45:18 Earth was made to be inhabited, by whom?
    Psalms 37:9, 11, 29
Isaiah 6:6-9 When and where does this scripture fulfilled?

You say that Ps 37 and Matt 5:5 are vague, but Titus 1:2 says that Jehovah cannot lie. Why would Jehovah include those scriptures in our Bible? Why would Jesus say inherit the earth in Matt. 5:5?

Reasonably these scriptures are there for a reason, to give us hope of a paradise earth.

If the "meek inherit the earth" they might not want it. Too much pollution. Too many people. Too much crime. Too much unhappiness.
No one yet since the Psalms and Matthew were written has inherited the land in the way JW's would have us believe. What will happen when the over 8,000 anointed are no longer with us and Armageddon still hasn't come? Or will the anointed class be open to the other sheep? That should pro-long Armageddon.

Please Read Chapter 15 & 16 of “In search of Christian Freedom,” The Greatness of the Good News and An Appealing Promise, Unfulfilled. Brother Franz gives some very powerful thoughts on how to look at the WT’s version of “rewards” and what the bible really points to.....

    Henry,
You state Gen 1:27, at that time that was his purpose
if you beleive in the bible.
Let me ask you if adam and eve did'nt sin,
would we need or have the 144,000? Does God lie, I dont
know, but things do change.Case in point now we need the
    144,000 i guess.

Your post had me thumbing through the "Reasoning " book , and you know, you are right!

The concept is a matter of deducing from Ps 37, and Rev 21 and a few other unrelated scriptures that if death is to be "destroyed"then we live forever - on Earth . It is a human deduction , not clear scriptural teaching.

PS. I can relate to your comments regarding your wife. Mine too. she is at her group study now and there is just no way that i have been able to get her to think beyond what is written . Not Yet.

If Adam and Eve wouldn't have sinned, there would never have been 144,000. These are part of the solution to the problem. God did not lie, but provided a way to gain what was lost.
