Do you mean Johnnie Walker Blue Label? Have you tried the Gold? If not, you should.
Dalmore Cigar Malt has been discontinued in Washington State. Too bad. I liked that one. Cardhu is very similar, however. Big fan of that one. You'd like it if you are a Johnnie fan. Cardhu was the first Single Malt distillery purchased by John Walker & Sons. It is still considered the "Heart" of Johnnie Walker and is used in all of their blends. Cardhu is very gentle and sweet, with a nice bisquity malt profile.

I'm in Canada, but I'll look for the Cardhu. It sounds tastey.......

I love Jack & Diet Coke.....but cognac is my first preference.

I'm a scotch guy, myself. My wife just got me a couple of new bottles - Glenmore 12 yr. single malt and Glenlivet 16 yr. old single malt. I'm looking forward to those.
I have toured the Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg. I used to go to motorcycle rallies there. Cute little town. I can't drink Jack though...something about it gives me a headache no matter how small a quantitiy is in my drink. I guess I must be alergic to something in it. I like Jim Beam black label and I loves me some Maker's Mark.
I used to be a member of the Scotch Whiskey Society - with their exclusive casks and all that...I just haven't bought any from there in ages. Very very good stuff, though.
BTW - my cocktail last night was simple Seagram's 7 w/ diet coke. A "we're waiting for our table" kind of drink.

You should consider giving Crown Royal Cask No. 16 a try. The whisky in this delightful blend was matured in casks formerly used to mature cognac. Rich , creamy, & buttery. One of my all time favorite whiskies, certainly my favorite Canadian whisky. 16 is the postal code for the Cognac region in France. Hence the name.

Hi Dagney,
If you can give me some idea of what flavors, styles, and character that you look for in a whisk(e)y, I can certainly narrow down some really nice suggestions for you.
Whisk(e)y is a broad category with a tremendous amount of variety between styles and countries of manufacture.
Some may wonder why I spell it with the (e).
The word "whiskY" was shortened from the Irish Gaelic words "Uisce Beatha" (OO-ish-kay BAH-ha), meaning "Water Of Life". The Scots & Irish eventually shortened it to "usquebaugh", and it evolved into "Whisky" from there.
The Scots wanted to distinguish their spirit from those produced in Ireland, so they spell theirs "Whisky".
The Irish add the "e" to the end, sppelling it "Whiskey"
Canadian whiskies follow the Scottish spelling, while MOST American whiskeys adopt the Irish spelling.

Nothing better than single malt scotch, in my opinion - particularly an 18 year MacAllan. I have slight meltdowns when someone puts mixer or ice in it though and scream HERESY or TREASON or some such...
