Jewish and Arab burial customs make it mandatory the body of a deceased be buried with 24 hours.
This burial at sea made finding the body impossible. Burial on land would naturally creat a shrine and a magnet for hommage.

Point taken regarding making the body impossible to find and enshrine. However I don't believe for one moment that they [whomever had custody of the remains] gave any thought to OBL's preferred burial customs - the remains could have just as easily cremated and scattered at sea to prevent their enshrinement after the identification process was verified by an independent reviewer.
And, yes, for the record, I am aware that cremation is contrary to Jewish and Muslim practice.
As far as DNA goes, there are plenty of Bin Laden family members with which to compare DNA. Remember, GWB escorted several members of the family out of this country after 9/11.

And how has that "fuck 'em, their Semites" attitude been working out so far?
Burial at sea is not contrary to Islamic practice.
Burial at sea describes the procedure of disposing of human remains in the ocean, normally from a ship or boat. It is regularly performed by navies, but also can be done by private citizens in many countries. It is commonly referred to as "Sleeping with the Fish".
The sacred texts of Islam prefer burial on land, "so deep that its smell does not come out and the beasts of prey do not dig it out". However, if a person dies at sea and it is not possible to bring the body back to land before decay, burial at sea is allowed. A weight is tied to the feet of the body, and the body is lowered into the water. This would preferably occur in an area where the remains are not immediately eaten by scavengers. [3]

I don't know, have you heard of the circumcision ban in San Fran?
What about the virgins in heaven?

I wonder how the sacred texts of Islam view removing someone's remains from land, and then taking it out to sea, to prevent the remains from being found.

We're talking about OBL, Six. Nobody else. He was/is a deplorable excuse for a human being, and deserved/s to have justice served on him. I'm just not a fan of the way things seem to be being rushed, for lack of a better word, and I'm definitely not a fan of the party-atmosphere in its wake.

This is the equivalent of birtherism.

No, I'm pretty sure we aren't talking about OBL. He's dead, and dead people don't care how they are buried. We're talking about how the west, and specifically America, interacts with the rest of the world.

I don't suppose anyone asked him about that before they shot him in the face at close range with a 50 calibre long range sniper rifle, did they?

Well, I know I'm not feeling too good about these particular interactions from my neighbours to the south.
