GODRULZ said: "The Bible emphasizes Scripture, local churches, local leadership. This is a check/balance against autocratic organizations starting or error being circulated like a virus. It does have some risk that an individual could go rogue, but the damage would be contained and the Holy Spirit would eventually lead back into truth (if the people are responsive and diligent). The WT model is not biblical, but flawed (uniformity is like McDonald's vs biblical unity/diversity)."

Awesome point. Makes sense. Although I like McDonald's lol bad bad me

It was a "Special Talk" in the sense of riding a "special bus" to a "special school" and needing "special medication".

As Church Lady was fond of saying on SNL: "Now isn't that special?"

Haha, I use to drive myself crazy trying to find out what was "special" about special talks.

They always acted like some new, vital info was going to be revealed, and if you werent there you would miss it and probably die.

But the vital info was always the same................. armegeddon is coming SOON!

WT talks and writings are simplistic and boring, not profound, just basic. The wealth of conservative evangelical scholarship is vast, varied, vibrant. It is a sin to make the Bible boring.

    Ray:

clear out some of the old ones that we have heard LITERALLY a hundred times. Especially "Godly view of sex and marriage" that can be the worst in the hands of the wrong speaker...

    LOL

.....or the BEST! That one had me rolling on the floor LMAO one time.

There will always be somebody around that has to be different - no matter what.

Regarding those who described the Special Talk as "Awesome", I would hate to see their idea of "Bloody Awful"!

    Bill.
