Sorry if this has already been discussed. I've only just had a quick look at the 15th July WT. Once again I've looked at it from the point of view of the Governing Body dictating to their secretary, the text to rush down to the printing press.

    Page 21 para 16/17

Jehovah tells you lot through us seven guys in Brooklyn about his purpose and what he wants from you. You can enter into Jehovah's
rest if you obey him and work with us.

But you are acting against Jehovah's purpose if you do not obey us or if you choose to obey only what you think is important. And
if you act against Jehovah's purpose, you cannot be his friends.

''Jehovah tells us through his organization about his purpose and what he wants from us. We can enter into Jehovah's rest if we obey him and work with his organization.

17 But we are acting against Jehovah's purpose if we do not obey the faithful and discreet slave or if we choose to obey only what we think is important. And if we act against Jehovah's purpose, we cannot be his friends''

    Thomas,

Were the words in quotes a direct quotation from the article, or were you paraphrasing?

    Aussie Oz, todays text,

Furthermore, Jehovah usually exercises his authority through us seven members of the Governing Body whom he entrusts with responsibility to care for his people. If you were to rebel against us, how would Jehovah view your actions?

''We must show respect for authority. Why is this so difficult for us to do at times? For one thing, humans in positions of authority are imperfect. In addition, we ourselves are imperfect. We struggle with an inborn tendency to rebel. You might wonder, then, ‘If it is such a challenge for us to respect authority, why do we need to do it?' The answer comes down to the issue of sovereignty. Whom will you choose as your sovereign, your ruler? If we choose Jehovah as our Sovereign, we need to respect his authority. If we do not, can we truthfully call him our Ruler? Furthermore, Jehovah usually exercises his authority through imperfect humans whom he entrusts with responsibility to care for his people. If we were to rebel against those humans, how would Jehovah view our actions?''

    From the Watchtower 1961 9/1

Do not think of this as limited to one who attends a place of worship or goes through some form of religious service or exercise. If one renders obedient service to someone or some organization, whether willingly or under compulsion, looking up to such as possessing a position of superior rulership and great authority, then that one can Scripturally be said to be a worshiper.
