I did actually use bin laden as an example to see what her responses were to messages from authority figures. Like should we give automatic trust in the words of people in position...why do we tend to believe teachers, priests, policemen, the president or prime minister? Should they be trusted just because of who they are?
I do see that she is really only interested in boys, animals and friends but at the same time just accepts the teachings without question. It is that feeling they have that 'it just makes sense' that bothers me!
But, after our day, i am sure (i hope) that as she sits thru the next indoctrination session our conversation jumps into her head.
I have been conscious of not bombarding her though, and have left the last few visits very low key... although she had no trouble eating easter eggs on the day and not coz it was past and they 'no longer meant anything'... and helped herself to some birthday cake at a dinner the other night.
She gets to hear my wifes view on the whole patriachal system from time to time. As well as plenty of advice about not being a kept woman either...dont go marry some JW boy and stay at home pioneering or popping out babies while he pays for your way in life... you go get an education and take care of yourself girl!
Really the biggest challenge is future choice of boyfriend. I saw my boy go from discussing stuff when he was with a worldly girl. Now he has been in trouble he is playing it safe with a JW girl and no longer wants to consider anything that will make him think. It does worry me that she could do the very same thing too...
