Which sentence is correct? Are both sentences correct??

    If you set off the clause, and his family, with commas, #1 will be correct.

    Otherwise, only #2 is correct.

    Oh, I forgot to mention that in sentence # 1 you need to remove the and to make the subject/verb agree.

    Bob, along with his family, is coming here tonight.

    Here in Uk only 2# would be correct because bob + family = plural

    Neither is correct, Bob is a bastard, and he and his family are getting nowhere near here !
