During a potluck for the hotel where I work, two housekeepers got into a fight because of some petty stuff thats been going on (so ready to quit but havent been job hunting like I should). Anywho, the head housekeepers starts bitching at the housekeeping supervisor and then bust out the other lead housekeeper, saying that she smells like a bag of onions! I did not attend (I work third shift, and only attended event at work the first year that the hotel opened (2008). Anyways, wanted to know how do you tell a person nicely, that they dont smell too good? The housekeeping supervisor was suppose to tell her, but she doesnt want to do it, so the general manager of the hotel has to. Its a crazy situation, and I'm wondering whats going to happen when she finds out.

    Any comments?

You're not the general manager, right?

    Be thankful.

    I don't think I could do it.

It's especially hard to do when it's a sensitive relative.

and yes, I'm happy that I'm not the general manager...

I wonder how people have dealt with this at the hall?

I absolutely cannot think of a nice way to tell another woman that she has an oooudour problem. I could easily tell a guy pal, or a child. But another woman, wow. If she was unlikable and truly did reek, then I would probably say to her once day, "Sweetie, I care about you and hate to tell you this, but sometimes it seems like your clothing might smell like food, perhaps onions, or something like that." She should get the message. Some cultures have certain smelling food they cook all the time. I wonder of those cultures are aware if they are in that certain population that fits tht profile?

Agree with Mamalove- it's the hardest thing to do, to tell a woman! I'd be mortified!!!Well, in my family we use a lotof garlic and onions, and I LOVE onions, so my siblings did always complain about my reeking when we were younger. Nowadays, I stay away from the tastiness :D.

It's called the 'vegetable soup" odor. Unwashed clothes are usually the culprit.

Unpleasant to be around but not as bad as the deadly "dirty ass" smell some people leave behind in the rest room. (Not talking about normal bathroom odor)

    I take the bold approach.

"Hey, who stinks?" and turn and look at them, "Oh, it is you!"
