I have my nicotined stained fingers on something that may fascinate you. I've had it a while, and now must come forth to make full admission:

This is a Teaser Introduction to someting that will shock some, and not surprise others, but many nevertheless may not know where this came from:

"Anyone who takes the Bible as his Standard of Faith and accepts it as the word of God and conforms his life to its teachings may become a member."

"Each interprets the Bible in his own way and follows its teachings."

Question: He is to be his own interpreter of the Scriptures?

    "Yes Sir."

The above was stated by W. E. Van Amburgh, one of the seven Officers of the Watchtower Society on trial for their lives in 1918. Joesph F. Rutherford was the main co-Defendant. In their comments, they were trying to push the responsibility of JW (Bible Student's) beliefs and practices onto the individual members ... so that they, the Society/Officers would not be seen as responsible for their otherwise alleged acts of sedition.

Most all of you have heard how the Society claims that Rutherford and the other Officers were Railroaded off to trial and then to jail for 18 months. The Society loves to invoke images of jack-booted police dragging poor innocent Watchtower Officers off into the night before a somber Magistrate who hears a little evidence and then hastily pronounces guilt.

FAR FROM IT! Few, if any JWs have ever read the trial transcript, saw the evidence, or understood that this was anything but a railroad job ... no it was a long trial, with many months of pre-trial investigations, much evidence presented, and Judge Rutherford hired a fine private lawfirm to represent himself and the other Officers. No, this was a most fascinating trial ... I will post some of the choice gems from this trial in the near future.

    Looking forward to the information.

    BTW you stated:

Do you listen to "Rush" a lot?

    Amazing

Hi Hawkaw: I have listened to Rush a number of times. I don't always agree with him. But, I love his humorous parody style ... and how some take him sooooo seriously ... Like Patsy Schroder when she gave her famous speech before Congress condemning Rush Limbaugh because he feeds his own mother Alpo Dog food. The Gentle Congressperson from Colorado actually took Rush seriously ... so, yes, I borrowed the "Nicotine stained" fingers thing. But ...

that said, nothing about this trial will be Parody ... no this was a treasure trove of just what the Society really did ... how they got caught ... and what they Really believed as the so-called Faithful & Discreet Slave.

IN my opinion, it is of greater importance then the Walsh Trial in Scotland, because this trial was their Defining Moment as a religon being selectced by Jesus as the newly installed Heavenly King ... their most critical time in human history when the most major fulfillments of Revelation were unfolding before the eyes of the World.

i would be fascinated to read some of that transcript. As you rightly said, the only side of the story I have ever heard is the WT one.

I've been trying to get independant transcripts of the Walsh trial in Scotland without much success. I have read it all in Ray Franz book, but would like the actual court records to show JW's without haveing the old "apostate literature" accusation thrown at me.

Amazing, have you read "Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot" by Al Franken? So funny.

    Hi Jukief and Ivor:

Jukief: I have heard of that book, but I havn'y read it yet. I will keep my eyes out for it.

Ivor: I have the entire Walsh Trial Transcript, and the Olin Moyle v Watchtower Transcript, and the Maria Russell v CT Russell divorce Transcript (partial).

The best one, in my opinion, is the United States v the Seven WTS officers noted above, because the so-called "Railroad" job truly reveals what weasels Rutherford and Company were in trying to distance themselves from their followers to save their skins.

Just wondering, since trial information is PUBLIC RECORD, should Randy and Kent publish this information on their most excellent sites?

    Amazing

Hi Nathan: The trial transcript for the above case is nearly 1,500 pages. It would take up a lot of space, and possibly slow down the use of their sites with people researching and reading this. The other trial transcripts are quite lengthy as well, with the exception of the Russell divorce case.

Ok Ok, now my breath is baited....... This has got to be good, because as stated by Ivor, the only side I have ever heard is the WT side. I just love hearing the other side. For some reason it never seems to fit the WT side. I suppose the court recorders were apostates, so that would explain it. [8>]

BTW..... amazing............ great threads, I just spent an entire day reading yours alone, from the last couple of weeks.
