COFFEE HOUSE GIRL- I've never used any tactics from " Captives of a concept " - but I've used plenty of tactics from Steve Hassan's books " Combatting cult Mind Control " & " Releasing the Bonds - Empowering People to Think for Themselves " and I've had some success with them. The last two months I've had more success with my older JW daughter than in the previous 2 years ! So things are looking up for at least one of my daughters. Hope things are going well for you. Take care
Has anyone tried tactics from"Captives of a Concept"?

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
Nothing works on a cult member who loves being in the cult. If they have more self-respect (arrogance), more authority and respect from others (elder/pioneer), more "friends", more love (bombing), attention/praise (for parroting WT propaganda), less boredom (JW treadmill), etc. they're never going to listen.
The time is coming when people won't listen to good teaching. Instead, they will look for teachers who will please them by telling them only what they are itching to hear. - 2Tim 4:3 (CEV)

Terry makes a good point, as usual, "Feeling superior" is important to JW's , just hear the many times they praise themselves as a group.
It may then be a good tactic to point out that they are not superior, don't do this in an unkind way, just point out where other groups are equal to the JW's in the same area.
Of course JW's fall back on "but we have the Truth!", it needs pointing out then that they just have their opinion, no more valid than any other person's opinion.
These methods can alienate JW friends and family though, I've done it, they realise that you are chipping away at what they think is a firm solid edifice, and yet the more they talk to you it seems more like a house of cards. They stop talking to you rather than face reality.
I have not managed to free one family member, apart from my wife, but she already was 95% out before I started to fade.

Witnesses are so difficult to reason with they just go round in circles. The elders who spoke to us kept saying do you believe god has an organisation? If he does then do you believe the GB are gods representatives on Earth.
They can see no God outside this rigid paradigm. They do not reason or think even when you present them with irrefutable evidence. I think someone has to have doubts and be at the tipping point before they are even open to hearing what you are saying. An open attack of their belief system causes witnesses to shut down all mental reasoning and fall back on the mantra of imperfect men.
The society has had decades of experience in conditioning and alot of people have never known any other lifeworld so it is like talking to someone with altzheimers they just don't relate to what you are saying.

My wife's mind has been unpenatrable. She is in many ways my intellectual superior, but there seems nothing I can say that will weaken her faith in the Watchtower. Good on you, wobble.
It seems everyone's observations and experiences are consistent with my own. These horses just refuse to drink because they fear the water is poisoned.
