If you had a JW hat on, how do you explain to someone why in the gospels that women who were "known sinners" were not stoned?

Why wasn't the woman who washed Jesus feet already dead? Why were prostitutes allowed to live there in Jerusalem?

Why was the woman who had the 12 year flow, who broke the Law, not condemned by Jesus? I am not asking why he was compassionate, but why not rebuke her privately.

If God's law is perfect and the Mosaic Law was perfect, why was not Tamar, this woman sinner and others who were open sinners not condemned and dealt with according to LAW?

Your questions about jesus' kindness toward sinners, indefiance of the requirments of the law are easy. Jesus didn't follow the law covenenat when he didn't feel like it. He was an ultra liberal.

The other ones are tougher. Maybe jews liked to have really good prostitues around for their own uses as long as they didn't cause problems?

Why would Jesus enforce a Covenant that he was going to fulfill and replace?

Jesus answered your question by saying, "he that hath not sinned throw the first stone".

perhaps my judicial comittee could have applied this.

The cities where Jesus preached were under Roman control, were they not? The Jews were living under secular law. They couldn't just hammer anyone they wanted to, like they did in the OT.

Just because there was a law, doesn't mean action was always taken. Under the Mosiac law, a parent could take his unruly childs life (Thou shalt honor thy father and mother), and although there isn't a record of that ever being done, the threat was there. To apply punishment to a broken law had to meet certain criteria. You needed at least two witnesses... think about that in regards to prostitution.. that would be difficult to prove, even though everyone "knows" the woman has a sulley reputation.

I have often wondered at the "heart" of the prostitutes that are so highly commended in the scriptures. Oh to find such a woman today so capable of satisfying her man and yet so good of heart that she is aproved by God. *S*

    Figure it out.

Trying to find internal logic to the Bible is a waste of time. Its a collection of myths and fables recorded over hundreds of years with a sprinkling of facts (that Christians and Jews repeat with tiresome regularity). The problems you cite, plus hundreds of others, prove this point. The big battle to decide whether the Bible was the inspired Word of God was waged and lost in the middle of the 19th century. Unfortunately, many people have since grown up without knowledge of this event or the reasons why the battle was lost.
