How might one convince a Jehovah's Witness to read "Crisis of Conscience?"

I don't think any of my relations actually care whether the WT has the Truth or not. None of them ever defend it without indulging some form of blatant dishonesty.

And that is the problem- JWs lie to themselves and ignore the warnings- like removing the 1914 generation promise from the inside cover of the Awake over 15 years ago. JWs just shrugged their shoulders and sat on their hands until the Noo-oo Light came out in 1995, which was just replaced by some Noo-ooer light last year- the stupendous overlapping generations disappearing trick.

Under other circumstances, moshe, I'd be laughing myself sore.

No one suggested leaving it in the bathroom- prime private reading area. Might curiosity and a few spare minutes get her to peek at it? Just a suggestion as I know I was very careful not to touch anything on my husbands table because I didn't want him to know or get the satisfaction that I was looking. Even when I finally started posting here I did so with a private browser window. I love my husband but he is somewhat a "force of nature" and can become a bit over enthusiastic and I need peace and quiet and time to digest. I don't like feeling swept along. I am now more open to asking questions and discussing things but he has also learned to take more time.

The JW's I know dont read.

    Apostates read.

I left the Tower in 83, my wife left in 93. She didnt read anything that made her leave.

She just wanted what I had and what I had wasnt at the Kingdom hall.

I read Crisis of Concience when it first came out back in the 80's, it validated my thoughts and suspicions.

Are you saying you have been trying to get your wife to leave the tower for 33 years?

I think your trying to hard.

Seriously, let go and let God.

Oh yeah, if I'm not mistaken, you dont believe in God

    Que sera, sera

Or like my father, who was never a JW always told me, " thats life".

After 33 years, if your wife were to leave the tower, it might kill you.

Too much change. People dont like change.

Are you saying you have been trying to get your wife to leave the tower for 33 years?

Yes. It has not been a constant, uninterrupted effort. It has been relatively long periods of peace and harmony (when we just ignored the elephant in the room) punctuated by periods of grief, sometimes prolonged. A focus on climbing the corporate ladder kept me otherwise occupied for most of those 33 years. I retired a few years ago at age 56. Now I have a lot more time on my hands.

Oh yeah, if I'm not mistaken, you dont believe in God

Relevant and irrelevant at the same time. My atheism is a relatively recent thing. But, yes, it does constrain my ability to convince my wife to discuss matters of spirituality.

After 33 years, if your wife were to leave the tower, it might kill you.

Actually, my fear is that it might kill her.
