Its our dazzling, sparkling, humungous intellect, isn't it? No, no wait... it is our great humility!

Believing in God is just a cop out to not deal with the harsh realities of life.God does not exist this does not mean a person's life is meaningless it just means that you are free to the course of your action but this also carries a lot of responsibility. Something that must people do not want to face.

This may be true of you or some you know, but it is not true of all. It is not true of me. I believe in God... because I believe He exists. I would have to pretend He didn't exist, in order to not believe in Him (which would also not be real). But my belief has nothing to do with being afraid, or not wanting to deal with harshness, etc. If I believed just for those reasons, then it wouldn't be a true belief, would it? To me, that seems more like a 'better safe than sorry' kind of belief.
To me, it is a little bit of a copout to dismiss belief from others for the reasons you stated. I think it just that kind of reasoning makes belief and believers easier for some non-believers to dismiss.
I don't think life is meaningless for those who don't believe, either, though, D. So don't think I'm criticizing you or other non-believers. Take joy in family, in helping others, in work, in science, in discovery, in adventure, in whatever... in LIFE itself. I feel those things too, though... I just also have faith in God, through Christ.

Tammy
Christ never said anything about same-sex marriage, and he did not condemn homosexuals anywhere. He didn't even speak of that so-called 'issue'.
Are you stating that the God of Christianity does not condemn homosexuality?
Are you stating that the God of Christianity does not condemn homosexuality?
I don't think he condemns homosexuals, no - at least not for being homosexual. Even if homosexuality is a sin (and I don't know how you can be condemned for being born straight or gay, or bi-sexual), it would be no better or worse than any other sin. Regardless of any of that, I cannot condemn a homosexual. Christ said that love God and neighbor. He said to do to others as you would have them do to you. To love one another as He loved us. Even IF homosexuality was a sin in and of itself, it would be no worse than any other sin that I have personally committed.
Christ had a 'beef' with hypocrites, though. Plenty of those in the people who condemn homosexuals. Otherwise men would have been going around condemning adulterers, instead of making it a 'wink, wink' thing for themselves, for so many centuries.
I don't like putting homosexuality and adultery in the same category though, because they aren't. I only use adultery to show the hypocrisy in what is or is not accepted. One is something you are born as, that causes harm to no one (in and of itself), and the other is a choice you make, that causes harm to others. Christ DID speak out about the latter.
Do I honestly believe that a gay man or woman who follows Christ (in deed, and not just word), is going to be turned away because of their sexuality?
No, I do not.

Tammy
I'll just leave this here...
