I live alone and birthdays are, well, depressing - especially considering all my relatives are JW's.

My birthday tends to be me.. me celebrating the day for me.

Sometimes, I at least get one or two messages on facebook - but this year I didn't get any. I went to bed pretty depressed, which doesn't feel right on your birthday.

The next morning, I discovered that my friend's wife had left me a message on my phone after I went to bed wishing me a happy birthday - and it made me feel a whole lot better the next day. At least until I rembered that her birthday was just a few days before mine, and I hadn't wished her one.

Since then, I've decided I need to pay more attention to other people's birthdays, rather than my own.

It doesn't take away the pain, though. Remember ---- NO REGRETS. You are out NOW, you gave your kids the best you knew how, and when you know better you do better. No guilt for their missed birthdays, guilt trips are a waste of time. You've acknowledge that it was a mistake, and it's now in the past. Let's hope there's lots of beautiful new memories yet to be created. You're sharing your sadness with people who understand, and that's a good feeling. We get it!

note to Lime --- me, too, and it can feel soooo lonely. It is a special day, though *just because it was the day you arrived*. Remember, we're not programmed to remember other folks' b'days, and I've had to wish many "belated" happy b'days over the years -- if you tell your friend's wife that, she will understand.

I know it's hard not having any JW family wish you a happy Birthday , but remember they are mind controlled by the WT society . They are mentally retarded. Literally. Their minds are skewed.
