How are they going to get out of this one?
I was always told that reading the bible with no J.W. study guides was not permited and that we wouldnt be able to fully understand it. Yea right. Anyway, isnt that the same thing?
VERY interesting (April 1, 2002 WT, p.19)

"If Jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to question those teachings would never be given to Jehovah's Witnesses and those to whom they preach.... Oh wait, scratch that one."

"Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?' And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you. Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." - Matthew 7:22,23

[QUOTE]"If Jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the Bible would never be given to Jehovah's Witnesses and those to whom they preach."[QUOTE]
.....rubbing my eyes and reading again. Yes, it is clear they are pleading ignorance and throwing themselves on the mercy of the congregations. What?... God's Channel of Comunication having problems with false teachings?
Statements like these present in sublime rhetoric the black and white, I-want-so-bad-to-be-right-and-everyone-else-to-be-wrong mentality that has gotten them in this mess in the first place. All their problems would dissappear if they simply stopped bustin' up families and plugged people into Christ instead of themselves.
Here's what they are really saying: : "If we ruin your family relationships and cause untold damage, including many people losing their life not to mention their sanity because of false teachings, the fact that we use the bible proves that we were just ignorant and not evil".
Imagine this defense in a courtroom: Your honor, because I'm an officer of the law, the fact that I engaged in police brutality in no way insunates my culpability in the matter. I didn't know it was wrong.... otherwise, wouldn't I have taken my uniform off before my friends and I kicked the bejesus out of the plantiff?".
This type of twisted reasoning is shocking to sensible, caring people.
Sounds like they are running scared like the cowards they are.... and the R&F know it too. They will be caught by their own devices... hope I live long enough to see it. -

Now if you were to confront a JW on this statement I`m sure that they already have a pre-programmed answer that only makes sense to them!

im not sure everyone understood what the sentence is saying. i had to read it several times to get it. theyre saying if they were knowingly teaching non-biblical doctrine, then they wouldnt be giving advice to read the bible and risk blowing their cover. if they were knowingly up to no good, theyd try to discourage bible reading.

Agreed Mox, but there is an acknowledgment in this statement that they could be teaching non-Biblical doctrine.
I think of Jesus' last words to his disciples "I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things." From the WTS view of things, Jesus is too busy at the moment and has left things to his "F&DS" who sometimes can't see his instructions clearly. So, in the words of Joe Ratherflawed in the words quoted in the Watchtower of May 15, 1937 :"if the instructions sent out are wrong, then the responsibility is to the Lord and not to the local service committee." (page 153, paragraph 31)
In other words, "It's not our fault, blame Jesus".So Moxy, and all, how can you expect any better in this current Watchtower from an organisation that has a history of blasphemy?
