    Defender,

When I saw the title of your post I couldn't help but think you must be one of Enron's top executives whistling in the dark to hopeful investors. The Enronification of Jdubs may not be as dramatic, but as religious organizations go, it's a close second.

Cheers, and turn out the lights when you go out the door, we're already gone.

    Hello everyone,

thanks for all the comments in this

    "interesting " post.

Room 215 , excellent and logical expositions of facts:

"How many of their teachings can withstand impartial objective scrutiny from neutral observers, especially with the internet to facilitate research, pro-and-con? Keep in mind that JWs have been to date able to rely on the public's ignorance of their past history with its scandals and failed predictions in order to make any progress at all with an unwary public. "

    Moman: good points too.

Anewperson: I do agree with your comment

    Greetings, J.C.MacHislopp

    Hi Folks,

Carrot and Stick? You mean you haven't heard?...Those that were alive to see 9/11 we live to see Christ come in his Full Glory !!!

Yep I predict this carrot should keep many generations faithfully following the Cult masters.

    Martini,
Just remember I said it first.

I wrote this post not in defence of the Society or its teachings, for they are indefensible.

Once the Society starts to implement new advertising methods and campaigns and once new interest starts to be visible, you will be sure enought that the Society will milk every ounce of growth in pounding the existing membership to sit tight and watch "Jehovah's Hand" in openning up the territory.

Sure, the meetings are boring and the message is stale, but those that are about to bolt, when seeing increased interest and many new faces in the hall, will begin having second thoughts.

The WTS concern is numbers and it will always be so.
"Bums on seats laddy, bums on seats" a favourite quote from one of Blackadder's episodes.

I hope not. I know I'm not going to contribute to their growth. I hope to contribute to the decline in their numbers.

No..I don't see it. The WTS needs a big play...like another '75 to get the numbers up. But I don't see that. The WTS was in decline in the 60s prior to the '75 stuff. I see the decline continuing. We are yet to see the fall-out of the UN-NGO stuff.

i can vouche personally for the fact that

i dident become a jw because of the internet.

at first i was just interested in the doctrinal matters

and i thought and still do think that they may have a point on

certain matters. when i actually typed the word jehovah witness into

a search engine 80% of the results were from anticult ministries!

so i have alwayse been told that they were a cult but i never really

knew why it took me a while to verify he things that i heard from

them at first because they tell me that dont listen to apostates that
they lie they are unspritual yadada...

but when i actuall found the proclaimers book let me give you an

    excerpt

    --------------------

brother russel had been encouraging the bible students to keep on the watch and to be determined to continue in the lord's work even if matters did not culminate as soon as they might have expected. october 1914 passed, and c.t.russel and his associates were still on earth. then october 1915 passed. was russel disapointed? in the watchtower of february 1, 1916, he rote: "' but brother russel, what is your thought as to the time of our change? we were not dissapointed that it did not come when we hoped that it would?' you will ask. no, we reply, we were not dissapointed....bretherine, those of of us who are in the right attitude toward God are not dissapointed at any of His arrangements.

jehovah's witnesses proclaimers of gods kingdom p 62 [second last pargraph]

    ----------------------------

so i found out pratically all the things the

people doing the devils work was mostly factual

so they now tell me to ignore the past and look at what they are

    doing now.

i alwayse wonder why they still call you liars and i have verified

    pratically everything you have said.

i also get the impression that if they dident hav these things in

writing that some faithfull brother would dispose of the evidence

lord knows they down play it.

they must really hate the internet

oh and ray franz must be the devil reincarnate.

if it wasent for the internet i may be in a knigdom hall or knocking

    at your door!

There is only one way they will grow. Third world countries will buy their rubbish in exchange for food!

Are the JW's that desperate? Sure they are!

to me i see certain factors affecting new recruits

new jws may be ignorant of the bibles teachings

[lord knows i hardly used the bible before they came]

they may need someone to help them in their time of need.

[have you lost faith in this system of things we offer you paradise on earth]

why does the church apparently allow so many hypocrites to stay in

    their midst

the door to door workers do actually think that they are doing Gods work

[and in many respects they are after all dosnt the bible say you have to spread the word]

how many third world nations have ready access to the internet?

knowledge of their past could be their downfall
its a matter of how they supress this information.

I want to throw a little gloom and doom and i would appreicate some feedback---

as we all know the USA economy is based very heavy on the confidence level of the American folks and i wonder how the USA would fare if it was brought under some constant attack from terrorist--

one well known fact is that in times of uncertainty and bad things happening churches attendances go way up- as things get bad religions do well cause they at least offer some type of answer even if they have to make it up- humans want answers- so religion is good with giving out answers-

case in point here in the DC area they use to have cops on every street esp up around the section known as Capitol Hill which is like 15-20 blocks on all sides of the capitol buildings, congress, supreme court, library of congress, etc

cop everywhere - about 2 weeks after 9-11 i told my wife i wonder how long will they keep up this HIGH LEVEL of security- i have often heard folks from other countries says

    "Amercians can stomach much blood"
so I'm wondering and i firmly believe it is coming_______

someone will walk into a major shopping mall, subway station, sports arena, some college, HIgh School, 6 Flags, Disney, etc and just set off a bomb on THIER PERSON- how many of such eventscould the american econmy stand- folks would be afraid to go to malls , only the Cowboys and Redskins would have fans in the stands-- smile,

would not such things scare folks back into wt and as well as start to take a second look at wt--

while i agree that for many they would look at wt and say NO WAY, but if wt changes it's clothes some and put some good spin on things--is it not possible under THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES the wt could actually grow based on the fact that folks want answers and "comfort"

I read a post that ref the wt PASS ERRORS while i agree history teaches and shows us that when it comes to religion and thier past folks can GET OVER IT
i mean let's be for real WHO WOULD Think that a church that actually would KILL YOU for not joining them still be around today and is perhaps one of the largest in the world THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
you would think that with a track record like the catholic church most folks would laugh at the thought of being part of a religion that would burn folks to death, yet many who are and become catholics rare raise and eyebrow when you ref the church history-

i think that religion serves such a need forfolks that truth and facts in most faiths have very little to do with why folks stay or leave

so is it possible that even after the "DATELINE" that wt could grow

well if history is any indication of human nature i would not rule it out

    just my 2

Bad beliefs just will NOT DIE---
