Are accomodations always provided for bethelites? I mean, maybe "temporary workers" are "allowed" to come up and use their own money or stay
with friends and thus WT gets work without giving away a 6 foot square?
Nothing new. This arrangement has been going on for years in Europe.
It's mainly because they're running out of people to work for them and they don't have the money for even their volunteers to stay there year-round.
Also note that it is entirely on your own dime (transportation and your family's income for the time being there), you should bring your own tools if possible and all you get is room and food (you usually end up staying with a family in the area) and you're on yourself for the weekends if they don't work (food-wise) since you're assigned to a congregation usually about an hour or more away thus you won't make it in time for the assigned meal times. Also, transportation to-and-from the assigned congregation and family is on your own dime, no reimbursements.
Bethel is no joke, they treat you like dirt, bend you over, don't have money for the lube and expect you to like it.
I guess they need some bethelite wannabes to un-bolt the printing presses from the floor so they can ship these upstate and flip the empty buildings during the next real estate boom... It shouldn't be too hard to find brothers looking to get out of field service for a while...
