It is amazing that those who are in don't pick up on it. It is just mind boggling. Sometimes I can almost see the recognition for the bull shit in my mom's eyes when she spouts off an experience like this to me, then her eyes literally glaze over and it is gone...
Okay, further on Jean-Claude. This is disgusting, basically telling witnesses "give up your job, ignore your families needs if it conflicts with meetings"

Even while still 'mentally in' these kinds of experiences enraged me. I always felt they had been fabricated by some pasty white, single, middle-aged male in bethel who has his room cleaned, slacks pressed, meals prepared and 100% job security. I always thought this kind of crap writing was insanely irresponsible. What took me so long?!

I picked up on it. The last DC I went to had one of those "if your boss won't give you time off for the DC, quit" BS experiences. It was 2-3 years ago, I was inactive, but still mentally a JW. I remember sitting there thinking that it was so irresponsible for the "brothers" to basically encourage people to quit their jobs to go to the DC. The economy was bad, and if you had a job you'd better do whatever it took to keep it. I also thought, how wise is it to tell people who did not go to college, therefore do not have careers/specialized skills that make them indispensable to their employer, that they should give their boss an ultimatum? I mean really, I've heard teens can't even get jobs at McDonald's anymore, because so many unemployed adults have taken those jobs d/t the lack of suitable work.
At the time I thought it was a lack of knowledge on the part of the GB. Now I know different.

The story would have sounded better if the boss was fired and Brother Jean-Claude was promoted to production manager with a huge increase in pay!

Exactly! These days it's Twitter or Facebook, not phone calls. The WTS is soooooo out-of-date.
