NICKOLAS- It is next to impossible to penetrate the minds of JW's who are that mind controlled. The moustached fellow kept making excuses for the Witnesses talking about " everybody being imperfect. " The interviewer did keep his cool very well. The moustached guy also was thinking about what he'd say next- wasn't really listening to the interviewer.

SNOWBIRD- My god. Thanks for the links. I never knew such prejudiced articles existed in the JW magazines against blacks. Good lord. Pretty sick stuff. Thanks for posting it. Access to information is so important

It does happen it has just been covered over by jws eager to make the org look good. If they get rid of anyone or remove anyone as an elder it would be b/c it was not one of them anyhow. It is a pedophile paradise and they are just white washed graves.

SNOWBIRD- I bet you were really crushed when reading that WT prejudiced drivel. I'm sorry they hurt you. I'm sorry they hurt all of us.

VIOLIA- Exactly. All the WT society cares about is controlling their members and making the organization look good. That's about it. Oh yes. They also care about donations and money $$$$ . Really nauseating how they view child abuse

I know that when we would make up car groups for service single mothers often let their children go with "a brother" in his car trusting he was a good person w/o question. That concerned me because even someone visiting and claiming to be a witness was trusted.

I don't know of anything personally that happened in the congregation i was in but I admit to not being a kid person so I wasn't paying attention to those possibilities. This fantasy about people being good and moral just because their a witness can be dangeous.

Wasanelder - I agree. Two elders trying their best politely to answer never-ending "what if" - questions.

NANCY DREW- Very true what you say. " This fantasy about people being good and moral just because they're a Witness can be dangerous. " And it's one of the reasons many JW children have been molested by trusting in this alleged " brotherhood " blindly . JW parents need to be smarter than they are. They are all so mind controlled.

THe OLD HIPPIE- I didn't see the elders being " polite " as you state. I saw them trying to justify and make excuses for the WT society policy's as if they are doing enough to stop child abuse

SYL! I had read those excerpts before but haven't thought about them in a while. It will never cease to shock me.

We had a couple of cases of pedophilia where I went. I'm not in the habit of defending the WT, but in my case, I was pretty pleased with how they handled it. The elders helped put 2 "brothers" in prison, and when a third person who was associating did something questionable, 2 elders came personally to my house to make me aware of the problem and to watch my child. Announcements were not made, but a successful effort was made to make sure everyone knew the details needed to keep their children safe.

Of course, that was undoubtedly a liberal congregation---as JW's go. They didn't freak out much when people went to college, and they didn't dress nearly amish style. But I know that outside this area, the problem was handled much differently. I've been to those congregations, and they used to creep me out. Their attitudes toward dress seemed unbalanced, and the strong "good old boys" feel of the place made me sure they would cover up horrible acts. Especially if women or children were the victims.

NEW CHAPTER- It does sound like you were in a more liberal congregation where elders tried to do what was right for all involved in the child abuse cases. I wish it was handled more that way by the majority of JW congregations- but I'm afraid that's just not the case. It's good to know that some individual elders will rise up and do what's right- if only a few.

My older dad and older brother are elders and they took it upon themselves to call parents in their congregation to warn them that 2 former sexual offenders were attnding meetings and that they were not allowed to work in service with minor children. So my dad and brother did that warning work on their own without the WT society's backing or direction . I admire that even more
