That 1984 WT is sad. I had forgotten it, but that they all lived so long, some of them long after that article-still hoping in vain. Just sad.
When my mom was a new mom, the "you will never grow old and die" thing came out (60's early 70's). I believe I was a preschooler at the time or an infant. In any case, my mom went through the change, had grandchildren and was widowed. She is a member of AARP and gets SS benefits. I am now going through the change myself and becoming a grandma (which I think is a sign of getting old, but not trying to rush myself!). Now she is facing cancer. All those people bought the line, hook, line and sinker. She isn't on that cover-she was too young in 1984-barely middle aged. But now, she is about to be a great grandmother.
