This going to be the first DC I've missed. I stopped going just after last years one (July) It just sounds like same old stuff, sugar coated and dished out again. I here there is a talk about Apostasy.. My in-laws and my family are going to love that... That should get them questioning us. Oh, by the way I' new to this forum

I can't sit through a meeting without laughing at all the ridiculous stuff they say. Last DC I went to was a few years ago and the first day, they started talking about 1975 and were accusing everybody who listened to them of reading more into it that what they'd said. Interestingly, the guy giving the talk couldn't have been more than 5 at the time the things were being written about 1975, so he was just parroting the scripted crap he'd been fed. I couldn't do the other days, so I didn't go back.
I hadn't even researched the 1975 subject, as I was a new member. They brought up something I didn't know about, so I looked into it. This is one of the reasons, I believe JWs are God's organization, just not like they think. He doesn't let them get away with anything. They damn themselves in their own talks, their own literature, their own conversations, their own attitudes and actions as being the Watchtower cult, posing as "true Christianity". The CD-ROM is their undoing, to anyone who wants to get to know what the Watchtower idol is really about.
The Watchtower has the truth. They use it as bait to trap the followers into idolatry. Then, they slip in false doctrines and man-made rules you're expected to follow. The "faithful and discreet slave" isn't mentioned once in the "Bible Teach" book, yet it's their central doctrine. Later, when they're comfortable they have you by the balls, they start to say things to the effect of "Remember where you heard 'the truth' and make sure you give us all credit" type crap. The Bible says about God's true worshipers and Christ's true followers:
So YOU, also, when YOU have done all the things assigned to YOU, say, ‘We are good-for-nothing slaves. What we have done is what we ought to have done.' - Luke 17:10

Welcome 789 and thanks to all for the comments...
botchtowersociety - yes, at first you would think it would be excruciating, but if you're able to view it as a huge sociological study, it's actually quite fascinating! In fact, this is the first year I can remember not ever experiencing "assembly rage" and I was actually the most enthusiastic 'convention delegate' of the group I was with.Another quick first impression:
Day one, after initial musical 'prelude', song, prayer etc...
'I FEEL LIKE I AM ATTENDING A NORTH KOREAN POLITICAL RALLY'
Yikes! What the hell have I done with my life!

And it is so creepy when they tell us from the platform how we feel about something?
"Truly we're joyful, brothers!"

@ ifonly789- Welcome!
I could not imagine attending another convention, assembly or meeting. How can you sit through it all?.
I remember at one of the last assemblies I attended- I had to go outside and walk around for awhile- there was just too much fake bs coming from the platform- I could not sit there and listen to it. And I was still an active witness.
My last DC was in 2000. I could not endure sitting through another one.

When I was mentally in, the conventions were torture. Once I was mentally out, I couldn't bear to even entertain the idea of attending. The convention center is 5 minutes away from me, I could easily pop in for an hour or two, but NAH.

I could consider going to the DC this upcoming weekend, but that would be wasting my holiday weekend.
