DC Brownie Points: Attend Twice. Ever do that?

A recent post I made on Watchman Duty reminded me of something that a few uber-righteous JWs would do. Work in Volunteer Service at your own assigned District Convention, but since you missed so much of the program, re-attend the whole thing again on another weekend and just "focus on the program". Blech.

I remember one super Self-Righteous guy talking me into going back to re-attend a Saturday once. I was single. You can probably guess my real motivation for re-attending. But that was the only time I ever did double duty at a DC.

    How about you?

I lived for many years in the city that had the DCs. I usually attended one and worked at least one other (3 total every year). Not to make brownie points though. I worked in an area where I did not have to "hear" everything twice. When I stopped going to meetings, I still received a call to cover a certain job....not to many qualified people I guess.

Many times when I was single. It had nothing to do with listening to the program though.

I did go to a couple conventions twice when it was held in my local area. But,it wasn't to receive brownie points. It was only to check out the young, single brothers.

Echoeing Magwitch and Empty, that's what I was thinking, although I never did that. I knew of many popular young JWs who did that including both single and married couples. I never understood why the young married couples did that, but definately knew why the single ones did.

Yes. My wife wants to attend another assembly so she can more out of it and visit other fiends. Next assembly is two weeks away.

That is one thing I never did. However, I did double-attend a regular Sunday boasting session once. And for the same nefarious purposes that were listed--the "brownie points" were just an excuse. Of course, thanks to Almighty Lowlife Scumbag, it failed to do what I wanted it to (and I ended up wasting the morning session).

And no, in my former congregation there were no extra points to double attend an a$$embly unless you volunteer at both. You had to either volunteer at both, or have a part in both, or volunteer (because they need you, and volunteer in advance) at one and have a part in the other. Otherwise, you get all the "points" for attending the one you are supposed to attend, or "partial credit" for attending one you are not supposed to because of necessity.

Did this quite often, but to be totally honest with you not in any manner to compensate the missed time due voluntary work.

It was for obvious reasons and there was always secret parties for saturday night.

Well, it looks like crusing for other singles is the number one reason for multiple convention attendance.

This year it looks like we'll probably just show up for the Sunday lunch visibility walk-around and litterature collection and then head out for a nice real lunch with worldlies.

    Ditto.
