I think it's a term we use to describe something/someone we see as utterly without redemption, heinous. It doesn't really mean anything.
To me, acts can be pure evil, but maybe not people.
I'm talking philosophically here --- just logic, not emotion.
A thought about Hitler --- please don't flame me! I know he did heinous acts, without redemption!
The good folks who settled Newfoundland (British),,, exterminated the Beothuks,,, a native tribe. They believed they were worthless, lower than human --- sound familiar? (slavery?) Are the British PURE evil?
An example of evil ,,, child rape is pure evil. Is the rapist pure evil? I don't know.
I just looked up a definition,,,
pure /pyo?or/ Adjective
1. Not mixed or adulterated with any other substance or material.
2. Without any extraneous and unnecessary elements: "pure art devoid of social responsibility".
So, perhaps a sociopath, by definition #2, could be considered PURE evil.
A very subjective term, imo.
