Sad to see the passing of an era.
Remember When Princess Margaret as a young woman wanted to marry Group Captain Peter Townsend? The Queen, her sister, refused permission as Townsend was a divorcee.
How times have changed!
Recall that at the time of the controversy over Margaret's romance and Elizabeth's refusal, that Margaret didn't attend church on the Sunday? She stayed home distraught.
If only the Queen had known then what she does now!!
It seems sad that Margaret never seemed to get over the upset and led a sad life.
And fancy a mother (the Queen Mother) outliving her 71 years old daughter!
Cheers,
Ozzie
I recall seeing some television film footage around Christmas time, showing Princess Margaret sitting in a wheelchair. I thought at the time that she looked so very, very ill.
The Queen Mother looked healthier than her own daughter, despite her very advanced age. I hope the news of her daughter's death doesn't send her into a decline. Although it seems logical that she might be the next to go.
The Royal family has certainly had more than a fair share of grief over the last several years. I can't help but feel some compassion for them as a family.
Sad news. I always liked Princess Margaret, she had real class.
For those of you coming up with the "witticisms", why don't you remember that the Royals are human too, with all the feelings of grief you would have if you lost a family member? You may not agree with the institution of royalty, that's your choice, but at least acknowledge their membership of the human race.

I agree and I always felt sorry for her that she had been denied the love of her life. What a wretched injustice.

I will bet that the queen is feeling not only sorrow but a great deal of guilt and other bad feelings. It is a sad situation all around.
