jgnat, thanks for your input (and i remember you well from my former incarnations here on the board), i never heard of that granfalloon, but it sounds interesting. if i understand that right it's pretty much the "us vs. them" mentality?

but take dogrulz. it may also be a "i vs. the rest" mentality.

i think i get where you are coming from, vampire, but i got a little question: do you think that "pushing a view onto someone" is in the eye of the receipient?

I made a friend, through another really good and long-time RL friend, on f/b. He seemed really to be an easy-going fella. BUT, as soon as I told him I was a 'recovering ex-JH, he started being very preachy (big-time XtianO), and pushing his beliefs on me. One day later, I 'unfriended' him.

It's sometimes 'in the eye of the recipient', but often, is an open and glaring fact.

    imo

...do you think that "pushing a view onto someone" is in the eye of the receipient?

Oh, yes... I most definitely agree on that. I've gotten some rather extreme reactions from others over my opinions and off-the-cuff statements every now and then where I never intended to "push", and that does bug me from time to time. I just need to keep growing a thicker skin, I suppose...

omg, talk about coincidence,, or synchronisity, if you will.

I just checked my e-mail, and there was one from the fundy guy I had 'unfriended',,,, another proselytizing message.

so I wrote back exactly this ...

I respected your beliefs, and you haven't respected MINE.

    So, PLEASE F*** OFF!

end of message... my goddess, he was so persistent, and wouldn't take no for an answer, what else was I to do?

@vampire: a thicker skin is always good i guess... or, better yet, a way to discriminate between yourself and the things you take for granted at the moment. it may well be the receiver who gets it all wrong, but i really do admire people who take the blame on themselves anyway.

@talesin: glad you made your stand. it's something i never was able to do, or only recently am learning. telling people to f*** the f*** off.. ;)
