Retrovirus - Thanks retro. It's for my son's future that I decided the quick exit. Kids absorb everything and I was worried that if I stay 'in' any longer he might be more attached to the cult. He was already a publisher in WTBTS.

I am a former Bethelite and Elder with 24 years with Watchtower in various capacities. I left in January 2011. I only recently learned that the approach I used is called "fading". I like the term. It is the best way to go. The two elders were sent to "investigate" and get back to the body. If you are considered a threat to the congregation expect a phone call. If not, you will be left alone.

I was removed as an elder in 2006 after a maor bipolar episode. I lacked "soundness of mind" according to my colleagues. Frankly, they did me a favor. My "fade" took five years, but I am irrelevant now, no longer considered a threat so no one tried to disuade me or even "meet" with me.

It is a challenge to reinvent yourself, but I have to tell you I could not be happier.

You have outgrown your JW friends. Life is an excursion and sometimes friends do not have the capability or the desire where you must grow and travel. However, there are other people who appreciate where you are and respect you in your growth and freedom.

Wow, it is great that you have read all four of those books already!

Umadevi Ahhhh the old ambush. Well they were probably investigating things. It's likely they will attempt to form a judicial committee and be more formal about everything. You don't have to show up for that either. I don't think all three of them will show up at work. They like to be on their own turf.
