It's unfair to punish someone for typical feelings. It really takes a special kind of robot to be a perfect JW.

Please encourage him to go to college and, if possible, as far away from his parents as he can get. I'm sure he feels trapped. He's been a good boy all his life and done everything his parents and his God want. And now, for having a natural connection to a pretty girl, all of his accomplishments are being thrown out and forgotten. Get this guy out of there.

What is more is, I'm sure his father is being so extreme because he wants to protect his own position as an elder in the congregation. He'll hang his son out to dry just so he can show the rest of the congregation that he's a super awesome JW.

When pieces of trash manipulators who are lead by feelings of jealousy have more power in the congregation than good and decent human beings you know there's nothing divine there.

That's unfair to say and a ridiculous generalization.

Not really Misery..When push came to shove..

My JW Elder Dad would side with the WBT$..So would most of the JW elders I knew..

There are plenty of broken JW familys that prove my point..

    It`s not a pleasent thing to admit..But..

Most JW`s would "sell out" their own family in favour of the WBT$,in a HeartBeat..

I can understand that Outlaw, and beside your own experiences, there's defiantely other examples of flawed men, but most men serving are not doing so for prestige at the cost of their families. This forum is full of people who've experienced the worst of what happens in WT Land, but there's plenty of people who don't share those same experiences. It's like someon who gets beat up by the police and one militant observer states that the majority of cops are rotten and looking for someone brutalize. We'd condemn their rhetoric as a ridiculous assertion. The same should be said when it comes to some of the generalizations mentioned on this forum.

Not all elders are heartless, organisation serviing, hypocites but this father seems to be hard line. This goes beyond punnishment into the realms of humiliation and all that will happen is make their son have less respect for them. I feel for the young man all his hard work counts for nothing because some malicious and jealous young man tells tales. What is sad is this individula will be rewarded for his act of piety when his motives were anything but noble.

If you already bought tickets I would go visit and take a graduation gift and celebrate this young man's success with him it will mean a lot to him.

    Hey Misery!..

    I`m not discounting you..

I will say there are less Elders who will do the right thing, especially if enough pressure is applyed....

The majority of elders will do whatever the WBT$ wants..

I`m sure every decent elder here and at the KH has had to put up with the WBT$ Company Assholes..

    Face it..

Elders like you are Out Numbered by the Idiots..

There is no way to change the WBT$..

Those that try will eventually realise,it`s never going to happen..

That's unfair to say and a ridiculous generalization.

It may be unfair to say not knowing the individuals involved but it is not a ridiculous generalization. Based on experiences of people from all over, this scenerio is quite likely to happen.

To be fair, the elder father may not cognizantly be throwing his son under the bus to protect his position, but he is doing it under the false assumption that he is doing the right thing as dictated to him by God's Earthly Channel.

If people are willing to cut family off, shun them forever, based on an announcement that the soon to be shunned member is no longer a JW, then it is not ridiculous to assume that elders will forsake their own family to uphold the reputation of their office and the congregation.

I agree with you Nugget, especially on the other young man's jealousy being wrongly interpreted as piety. I'd like to personally stomp that kid out with some 10 1/2 Timberlands.

At the same time though, thinking back to my own youthful indescretions, the times I took my dad's minivan to just "go out", had he found out what I was really involved with, he probably would have kicked me out the house. My first tongue wrestling match was in my dad's minivan, my "elder" dad at that. Knowing him like I do, he wouldn't have been concerned about his position in the congregation had my situation come to light, he would have been more upset about my lying, not to mention habitual lying, as well as my immoral behavior as far as morals from a conservative JW's perspective is concerned.

Your dad would`nt have to worry about his position in the Congregation.. He`s already following the WBT$ company mindset..

I can`t count how many JW kids I knew..

Who got kicked out of their homes because they were acting like kids..

    You said it yourself..

You would have been kicked out of your home for acting like what you were..A kid..

The WBT$ would have Broken up one more Family..For What?..

Because a Young Miz is doing what kids do?..

    It`s not Right..And..

It`s a common attitude in WatchTower World..

"Throw your Kids Under the Bus for the WBT$..Nothing is Sacred"

That's unfair to say and a ridiculous generalization.

Perhaps unfair, but far from a "ridiculous generalization".

The vast majority of JW elders I have known would throw their wife and/or children under the bus for the sake of loyalty to the org.

Some, perhaps, would feel vaguely guilty about it, but easily 80% + would do so.
