    a happy poem ... for us ..

    The Numbers Game

    My friend says,

    "Age only matters if you're a wine or a cheese".

    So, what does this mean, you may ask?

    I say, we're too focussed on ...

    BIRTH - DAY

    You are beautiful, young, and alive!

    Listen up, gurl, this ain't NO JIVE!

    "Youth is wasted on the young", a wise womin said,

    So come with me, and we'll

    PAINT THE TOWN RED!

    You're the best, you're the greatest,

    And you help me survive.

    My friend, age is a number, but ...

    You are WELL and ALIVE!

    "one" of my favorite poems ....

    hope u like it :)

    W. H. Auden

    Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
    Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
    Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
    Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

    Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
    Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
    Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
    Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

    He was my North, my South, my East and West,
    My working week and my Sunday rest,
    My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
    I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

    The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
    Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
    Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
    For nothing now can ever come to any good.
    EDIT: ps. to CoCo,, love you and hope you are recovering well!!! many xo's 2 u :D

    You should convince Pfizer to print that poem on their Viagra label, CoCo. Sales would double.

    Dear poetical friends:

    Many thanks for your wonderful literary and personal contributions (am much improved, Talesin; thanks!).

    And Nickolas: if my humble meanderings can bring happiness to the downtrodden, to the romantically challenged, to the penniless poet, then I am happy (and wishfully laughing all the way to the bank!).

    Let's see what happens tomorrow when my poetry is read at the regional writers' club. ...

    With gratitude and love,

    CoCo
