    The "faithful and discreet slave".

In Russell's day, and for sometime thereafter, the "faithful and discreet slave" was Russell by reason that he was in solely in charge, being viewed as God's channel. It was not a class of people.

Later the teaching of the "faithful and discreet slave" was changed a class of anointed JW's all around the earth.

Today the "faithful and discreet slave" is only the seven members of the governing body by reason that they are in charge, being viewed as God's channel.

Thanks for the links Blondie. The pyramid one also is very good. Love it. The generation for me will remain the big issue as far as changing in belief because to me that was the crux of the whole rubbish belief. Amazing.

Also what to do if woman was raped. If she scream did not scream, so it could be seen as adultery. One point they claimed that shock from the rape or intimidation can prevent woman to scream and she would not be guilty, other time they said she would be.

Another recycle material is the ten horns, it always changes depending which top ten countries appear on the political scene. Other would be Abaddon, now they claimed that it is Jesus, other times it was Satan. Either way when you miss one belief, another one will arrive very shortly.

Unbaptized people are not ritually shunned.*

    Unbaptized people are ritually shunned.

Unbaptized people are not ritually shunned.

    ----

*"Ritually shunned" means, in this context, having a judicial committee, announcing a change in status from the platform, 'not even eating or saying a greeting'.

The generations doctrine. In 1997 they had a footnote that said this:

So the recent information in The Watchtower about "this generation" did not change our understanding of what occurred in 1914. But it did give us a clearer grasp of Jesus' use of the term "generation," helping us to see that his usage was no basis for calculating-counting from 1914-how close to the end we are." Watchtower 1997 Jun 1 p.28

The overlapping generations teaching is calculated again from 1914.

They've gone back and forth about whether the anointed would all go to heaven before armageddon or whether some would still be on earth afterward. I think that was most often flip-flopped with studies of the Revelation--It's Bland Climax Still Ain't Happening book.

Back in the 80s, I think there were other debates about the sequence of events that would lead up to the panda-petting paradise. Since the 80s were Reagan, pope JP, and the Soviet Union, there was lots of excitement about how all those nutty prophecies would be fulfilled with the cry of peace and security, the king of the north, the destruction of babylon the great, etc.

On Village Idiot's 'wts' position on married couples sex positions: the reversal happened with a few weeks, so that the French Congregations were just "studying" the "forbidden" article, while English readers already enjoyed their again found freedom, with sighs, of relief no doubt.
