    dear Terry...

you said: "The faces of even the catatonic people show....something...I can't exactly say what it is....but, it is definitely a change of character or mood or....."

He will not quarrel nor cry out,
Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.

A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench,
    Till He sends forth justice to victory;
And in His name Gentiles will trust.” matthew 12:19-21

I'm going to start a separate thread on something that happened to me this morning.
A car full of JW's out in service while I was at the Car Wash...

    Lord, have mercy.

I'm torn a bit here...something inside me wants me to make a bunch of anti JW doctrine comments....but no. I knew there was another reason for visiting this site.

    Thank you Terry.

Thanks for sharing Terry and for being, as you ALWAYS are, open and truthful with us about how you feel.

I have met a coupel of JW's that seem to have "trancended" their religion and "Mr Dub" here sounds like one of those.

Isaiah 42:1-4 "Take a good look at my servant.
I'm backing him to the hilt. He's the one I chose,
and I couldn't be more pleased with him. I've bathed him with my Spirit, my life.
He'll set everything right among the nations. He won't call attention to what he does
with loud speeches or gaudy parades. He won't brush aside the bruised and the hurt
and he won't disregard the small and insignificant,
but he'll steadily and firmly set things right. He won't tire out and quit. He won't be stopped
until he's finished his work—to set things right on earth. Far-flung ocean islands
wait expectantly for his teaching." The Message Bible

    Amen and amen.

Thanks for sharing this experience, Terry.

I shed a couple of tears, and like those who were catatonic, it moved something in me and brought me to life.

I've talked to so many wonderful people over the years who have donated their time to helping people in need and, as I stop to think about it, not any of them were active JW's.

Now that is probably not a fair assessment. Undoubtedly there are plenty. But, being that sort of person, I doubt they'd talk about it.

Still, we were never encouraged from the platform (that I recall) to spend time with widows, orphans, the sick or imprisoned EXCEPT to count the time and start a bible (read propaganda) study.

In other words, JW's are strictly company men on the make and prowling for opportunity.

Not really the same as charity---is it?

    What am I missing?
