You seem to be quite convinced that the OP is afraid of speaking with God. On what basis is this assertion?

Watching the glacier 'crumble' reminded me of what a representative from the WT Society said recently to an audience. This particular individual likes to include statistics in his talks to drive home his point. In this instance he admitted that 'JW marriages are falling apart' (his exact words).

Speaking about the youth in JW families, he stated that JW families have the lowest retention rates (something like 35%) compared to other religions which he stated were much higher.

There is no doubt in my mind that the WT Leadership is very much aware of the decay and deterioration of the 'Truth'.

I like to add that the Watchtower Society takes Jerimmiah 10:23 totally out of context, in God's Word Translation published in 1995 this translation reads:

O LORD, I know that the way humans act is not under their control. Humans do not direct their steps as they walk

What that scripture means is only the Lord is the only one who is there for each individual person, the governing body trys to take that place and control people, one human cannot control another human on how to serve God its just each of us individually that God is there for each of us.

avoid the actual preaching work as much as possible by shepherding,

Dark Knight, I hate to be the one to tell you, but the elders are NOT spending their time shepherding. I know of many, many faithful pubs who have not had shepherding calls for 5, 6, or more years. Faithful ones who are caring for infirm family members, faithful ones who have illnesses, marriage issues, children issues. There just is NO shepherding being done. Isn't that obvious from the number of folks here who have FADED successfully? No one could fade if the elders were doing their shepherding "jobs".

Thing is, they can count any communication with someone else in the congregation as shepherding. An elder leads the service group on Saturday morning. There are six people there in total. He puts four in one group and takes a young brother in the car with him. They do a "call" or two on a couple empty houses on opposite sides of town, then stop at the donut shop for "coffee break." While there, the elder may mention something "encouraging" now and then to the other guy. By the time they "notice" the time, they've blown an hour or more.

Ah well, what a nice morning of "field service" they spent. The elder will count at least 2 hours for the morning even though he spent an hour or more of it in a coffee shop "shepherding" another brother. The other guy may or may not count the entire morning but man he'll sure feel encouraged to keep up the good fight for another week or two!

I don't mean to gloat over the fact that JW marriages are breaking-up big time according to what a seasoned speaker had to say, nor to celebrate the fact that many JW youth are disillusioned with religion (no thanks to JW Leadership).

However, the fact that this is happening under the WT GB watch is proof that WTBTS is not helping families find family happiness. That is a sad thing indeed!

I don't always agree with Moshe - but he's right on the money with the above idea.

When God sent Moses to Pharaoh, He armed him with the demand "Let My people go, that they may serve Me." At one point Pharaoh was okay to let them go on his (Pharaoh's) own terms. One of the teachings here ... Israelites could not serve YHWH when service was regulated by any other master than YHWH. The way JWs follow and believe the WT teachings amount to idolatry.

One cannot serve 2 masters - God and the WT corporation.
