    Imperfect, So What???

The WTS really likes to have its cake and eat it it too. I have no problem with the notion that members of the G B or other seniors are "imperfect" in their daily lives, within reasonable standards. If they succumbed to "sharp bursts of anger" like, I believe, Paul and Barnabas - so what? Apostle Peter was peer pressured into snubbing non Jewish Christians. These things happen.

The important thing is their writings and the doctrines. If they are imperfect then it cannot be Holy Spirit. Note how they present differing descriptions of their literature, as it suits them, and expect the flock to hold both statements true:

"Draw Close To Jehovah" ch 31 p314

"Jehovah also speaks to us by means of “the faithful and discreet slave.” As Jesus foretold, a class of anointed Christians has been appointed to provide spiritual “food at the proper time” during these troublesome last days. (Matthew 24:45-47) When we read literature prepared to help us acquire accurate knowledge of the Bible and when we attend Christian meetings and conventions, we are being fed spiritually by that slave class."

    Again

"Third, holy spirit is at work in bringing Bible truths to light. (Prov. 4:18) This magazine has long been used by “the faithful and discreet slave” as the primary channel for dispensing increased light. (Matt. 24:45) For example, consider our understanding of those who make up “this generation” mentioned by Jesus. (Read Matthew 24:32-34.) To what generation did Jesus refer? The article “Christ’s Presence—What Does It Mean to You?” explained that Jesus was referring, not to the wicked, but to his disciples, who were soon to be anointed with holy spirit. Jesus’ anointed followers, both in the first century and in our day, would be the ones who would not only see the sign but also discern its meaning—that Jesus “is near at the doors.”

    In contrast :

    Wt 81 2/15 p19

"True, the brothers preparing these publications are not infallible. Their writings are not inspired as are those of Paul and the other Bible writers. (2 Tim. 3:16) And so, at times, it has been necessary, as understanding became clearer, to correct views. (Prov. 4:18) However, this has resulted in a continual refining of the body of Bible-based truth to which Jehovah’s Witnesses subscribe. Over the years, as adjustments have been made to that body of truth, it has become ever more wonderful and applicable to our lives in these “last days.” Bible commentators of Christendom are not inspired either. Despite their claims to great knowledge, they have failed to highlight even basic Bible truths—such as the coming Paradise earth, the importance of God’s name, and the condition of the dead."

So which is it to be? If the writers are not infallible then the writings should be able to be considered on their merit , discussed and accepted or rejected according to the readers own Christian conscience, before God. instead we have an authoritarian central body that says, in effect, - believe what we say today, untill WE change it or get out and never speak to your family again !

"One God alone could be supreme and all-powerful; and one such God could mean only one true religion, namely, the one right worship of this one supreme, almighty God. His religion is one of right belief and is harmonious in all its expressions, just as true physical science is harmonious and not self-contradictory. The true religion of the one God does not disagree with itself, deny itself or get divided with itself. If it had internal disagreement, contradiction and disunity, it could never stand; it could not be simple truth; it would disagree with the scientific laws of the universe; it could not triumph in the long-drawn-out conflict between true religion and false. But true religion must triumph, because truth cannot be destroyed. That is why, despite all the many false religions in the world, the true religion has lived through till this day..."--Watchtower 11/15/1963

I assembled a partial list of their doctrinal contradictions here.

But true religion must triumph, because truth cannot be destroyed.

And when that was written in 1963, they were still teaching that many people alive and adults in 1914 would live to see the end of this system of things.

They had not yet thought up the 1975 false prophecy, nor the "overlapping" generations nonsense.
