Watchtower Dress Code at Elder School — Knorr Style!

Today I uploaded a new article to my blog addressing Watchtower’s dress code for attending and speaking at its elder schools. Those with personal experience at these events should immediately recognize a big difference between then and now.

My article is titled Watchtower Dress Code at Elder School — Knorr Style! and is available at: http://marvinshilmer.blogspot.com/2011/08/watchtower-dress-code-at-elder-school.html

Marvin you seem to have a real obsession with what the society did in the past. Life and death issues are one thing, but come on, who cares what they wear. In business meetings, some are formal some are not. It really does not matter.

As far as the society goes we need to concerntrate on what they are saying and doing now, not worring about what they used to wear 30 years ago.

that's cool! where do you get this stuff!!! Back then they were a bit more normal. I think it is interesting to see the progression to cult crazy they are now..

An obsession with rule-making will always have an evolutionary path that becomes more extreme with time.

Rules tend to compound . . . rather than just change . . . let alone become fewer.

IIRC Knorr was the one who wore a bright red suit when he visited Germany, because he thought the JWs in Germany were too strict with the dress code. Is that true or just an urban legend?

How was air conditioning back then, did many buildings have it? If not, I can understand no suitcoats.

What Watchtower did helps us learn more about what Watchtower does and why it does it.

Hence knowing what Watchtower did is useful and educational information.

I knew that meeting room. It was fully air-conditioned.

I went to a two-week school in 1970 in Pittsburgh, PA. This was for congregation overseers and assistant congregation overseers - pre elder arrangement.

They never mentioned any dress code, but everybody wore suits and ties. Of course, it was in the middle of winter so that may have changed in the summer.
