    Aguest:

    So my issues amount to:

    • lack of substance
    • lack of depth
    • lack of self control
    • lack of ability to act like an adult
    • lack of ability to control sarcasm
    • inability to articulate myself
    • restort to red-herrings thrown in to deflect from my ability to articulate
    • unconscious personal chagrin (can you put that in words i understand?) related to education i did not have or perhaps did.

i would like you to continue. perhaps elaborate on the last one which i did not really understand.

Aguest, how can I have peace when you tell me I am full of issues! Let me in on my diagnosis!

It's not up to me to diagnose you and your issues, dear Bohm (again, peace to you!)... anymore than it is for you to deign to diagnose me and mine. Which you seem to be able to dish out... but not take (Issue No. 9, perhaps?). I wish you peace... in the hopes that perhaps YOU will "see" your issues (at least, start to look at 'em)... and maybe seek to resolve them. Maybe. I do believe you WILL find some level of peace if and when you do.

one will see time "slow down" untill the falling coordinate system is redshifted infinitely much, however time still progress in the falling system as usual (assuming it is freely falling it will modulo tidal effects per assumption in general relativity not be effected at all!).

Interesting. 'Cause that's NOT what the show said, at all. To the contrary, it said that time WILL stop... and that there is NO time... in a black hole. None whatsoever. Nada. Zippo. Zilch. So, sounds like I wouldn't be the only one to have some questions for Dr. Hawking...

    Peace!

    A slave of Christ,

    SA

I've been meaning to watch it. I have watched some of his previous videos. I do think sometimes his examples are not the best, but I think they're close enough for what he's trying to show. He ca not cover theory in just a few hours.

And AGuest, I'm just curious to know if you read the beginning of the video where it states that the following are based on his opinions. That's being more honest that creationists which rarely admit that is their opinions, but take the God creation theory as a fact.

I must applaud you how you are really nailing both me and science on this thread...

I take it you did not apply the scientific method to your own visions?

So, start another thread, dear Bohm (again, peace to you!)... because I don't want to hijack it from dear jam to make it about you... and me.

    Again, peace to you!

    A slave of Christ,

SA, who thinks perhaps another "issue" you might have is that you didn't see my response coming... and rather than taking what you dished out like a "man"... now want to play even more "childish" games to try and win some of your dignity back. Sure you wanna do this?

    jam:

I watched it last night. Very engrossing and a very good panel of speakers and experts. I have to admit that while it is Hawking's personal choice to not believe in god, he did not disprove the existence of one.

anymore than it is for you to deign to diagnose me and mine.

thats the thing, did i really diagnose you?

Interesting. 'Cause that's NOT what the show said, at all. To the contrary, it said that time WILL stop... and that there is NO time... in a black hole. None whatsoever. Nada. Zippo. Zilch. So, sounds like I wouldn't be the only one to have some questions for Dr. Hawking...

Perhaps this is my lack of education or depth talking, but which coordinate frames are we talking about? (observer, observed).

And AGuest, I'm just curious to know if you read the beginning of the video where it states that the following are based on his opinions.

I DID, dear NS (peace to you!)... and watched with that in mind. However, that's not how it was PRESENTED, at all. I mean, it was the typical WTBTS "bait and swtich" ("Oh, no, you don't HAVE to believe what we believe; we're open to ALL... and we LOVE all. But if you haven't converted and become one of us by [the end of the show]... well, it's because you're really just not intelligent enough... like us").

That's being more honest that creationists which rarely admit that is their opinions, but take the God creation theory as a fact.

Oh, please don't think I side with "creationists", either. Again, the lone theologian was a HOOT - a complete mess of a defender of faith in God. Absolutely NO clue, that guy. He made me squirm and cringe WAY more than the scientists. I mean, at least they made SENSE (albeit, sense that is limited to the physical/empirical world). He didn't even come close. I promise you, Charlie Brown's teacher makes more sense... and without Charlie answering so that you know what she "said"!!

I do find it interesting, though... that no one has addressed my questions... other than the sundry ridicule from dear Bohm (which is about what, exactly?? I mean, if you have answers, by all means STATE them - I'm more than willing to listen!). I realize there are a few questions, but the show prompted a few questions. Given its topic and endorsements, why wouldn't it?

But, yes, dear NS... I watched with a totally open mind. I wasn't looking to disregard ANYTHING - I wanted to understand what Dr. Hawkings believes... and WHY. I got both... what and why... but his "hows" seemed to ME to fall really short.

    Again, peace to you!

YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,

    So the list goes on:

    • Lack of ability to predict your response
    • inability to take it as a "man"

Perhaps this is my lack of depth again, but i could swear its you who seem pretty agitated. Im not really referring to you playing doctor on me, more like how you are constantly making blanket statements to the effect of comparing renowed scientists to a religious cult on a subject which you clearly do not understand nor have made any substantial effort to understand even though the books are right there (may i propose gravitation).

My original point was intended tongue in cheek but now i think it need to be said: You have one standard for the results in science, and one for your own visions. And that allow you to naively accepting your own visions as coming from outside your head when all evidence is to the contrary, while simultaneous comparing renowed scientists to an evil cult based on what you see in a tv-show.

And you might be a really nice lady, but it sucks that you need to do this passive-aggressive spiell where you tell me to have peace and at the same time make personal remarks.

The entire point of "Curiosity" is to create questions and inspire exploration of them. It isn't about giving answers.

Also, analogies are simply that. They aren't scientific data. They are simplified ways to get the lay person to somewhat understand a concept without understanding the heavy science the analogy represents.
