  The Book/scroll of Daniel (its two sections are in two differnt languages) was compiled in the 2nd century BCE at the time of serious oppression and persecution of the Jews. The purpose of the book was to provide messages of hope to those people, using stories that would not carry meaning to their oppressors.

  The story of the breakup of the superpower and of a rock striking it was intended to relate to their time. It was a message to them and for them.

  Daniel was not a true prophet. He never worked for or preached to God's people. He interpreted dreams, and he did that for a heathen king. The stories are myths where people could stand in a fire and not even get singed, where ravenous lions were selective in the people they ate. These were stories intended to provide hope to the Jews being persecuted just as were these mythical people. It was a story-telling mechanism.

  To this day, the Jews do not recognise Daniel as a prophet in the true sense, and they do not include the book in the prophetic part of Scripture. It is a "writing", not a prediction.

  Given the bizarre pictures and messages, and that they were to be understood by a different culture, results in the widest range of interpretations and is dangerous place to base one's faith.

  When you say china is not a world power you have to remember that the super powers in the bible were not that huge......comparatively china has more power than all but Rome and the US....the bible never talked about the Mongol World Power (largest continuous land empire). Or even the Sumerians who were a world power before all the ones listed by the WTS. How can you have all the 6 world powers take place over 1000 or less years and have one world power that takes power in the 1600s 1100 years after Rome fell.

  Per the Bible, the "eighth king" would be the scarlet-colored wild beast and thus the U.N. So China would be included when the U.N. takes over world government.

  The feet made of iron and partly of molded clay shows more than one world power ruling but not sticking together well.

  Further, unless China actually conquers the US, it wouldn't be represented in the line of kings from Babylon through the US-Britian who are ruling when the UN takes over. But the Un takeover likely represents the emergence of China and other strong economies in the world besides the US.

  But technically, since the feet of mixed nations properly represents the U.N., China would be included.
