What % of each JW talk do the dubs listen to?

Not sure how long the sunday sermon is now, maybe 30 mins? How much of that are people listening to?

The KH is stuffy, the kids at the back of you is kicking up a fuss, the kid at the front of you is choughing all over the place, theres several hotties to your left , to your right theres that asshole jerk who really upset you last week, you just remembered on the way back home you've got to get some food in from the shops, and you must remember to speak to brother so and so about this that and the other, and also you need to remind sister example about that stuff, Shit! You forgot to call back that guy at work! When you call him back on monday you'll have to apologise and say ....." bla bla bla", your managers going to be a real pain again on monday, if she tries to be a bitch again youv'e decided your going to handle it by saying "bla bla bla"

Hang on ... whats the brother on the platform saying?.... oh yeah look up Matt 4:20 flick flick flick i wonder if alice and ian want to come over for a bbq next weekend? Ill ask janice and tom too, and maybe susan shes been really down recently. Ill do maybe some indian style nibbles... is janice gluten free these days? or has she now decided to be lactose intolerant?

jws listen to very little...I can remember the WT conductor saying he liked my comment, but when I asked him which part specifically did he like, he went silent. Or jws that say it is the best convention ever who can't tell you a specific point that touched them. Or when they have the review in the fall of the convention, the same 2 people comment because no one prepares, took few notes, never listened to the tapes they made.

Sisters are thinking about what they will make for dinner afterwards, or where they will go out for dinner, what really fun thing they will do after, etc., what they will talk about with the friends after the meeting...

I once spent an entire sunday meeting working out how to coax a horse to the fence so i could jump on its back... and whether it would throw me off and i'd break a leg...

I think, to be fair, that it depends on the speaker. Some were super, most were booooooring.

I found this hilarious, great post! If I had a penny for every time I've noticed someone staring ahead blankly during a talk, not picking up their Bible when a scriptures going to be read, and then suddenly coming out of the trance and rapidly flicking to it.. Or when people yawn, glance quite obviously at the clock, then suddenly start clapping when they realise that everybody else is.. There was a kid in our congregation who used to sleep through the talk, then he'd sit up and start clapping when the applause woke him up! As to your question, I think that when people are hearing talk outlines they've heard many times before about things they already know and can't seriously criticise, it's safe to say less than 100% for many, unless they're taking notes to keep themselves awake. I think that the most attention will be given, in general, at the beginning of a talk. People have only just sat down from the song and have just been talking to others before the meeting started. Plus most speakers will set off with an illustration, news item, or quote. Then attention will begin to drift away as some realise they know where the talk is going and can predict at least half of the handfull of scriptures to be used. Some might return mentally when the guilt-trip portion towards the end of the talk mentions their favourite hobby/film/aspect of life, and why they shouldn't do it.. Also, for young mothers, I'd say less than 50%. And elders/MS's? Less than that, some of them are up and down more than the children..

Thank God for my kindle app. I read Dawkins, Dostoevesky, Shakespeare, ANYTHING other than the Joseph Goebels-like rhetoric that spews from the platform.

Crap like that makes me try not to listen at all, as it only serves to enrage me. I swear I wanted to throw a hand grenade on stage.
