    Jerome,

Why don't you ask your girl friend to start a Bible/book study with you. Then, you can study it from their point of view, and from ours.

    Jerome,

Why do you need the Watchtower?

Do you understand what Jesus meant when he said "Go and learn what this means, "I want mercy and not sacrifice"?

As far as positive comments go, one thing I recall is that the KH I visited were all extremely clean. Public speaking experience a plus too, though you could get that in school or Toastmasters.

As far as religious doctrine? That's a bit muddy.

What have you found to be particularly insightful? I hope it doesnt have anything to do with 1914 and "generations"

    Jerome,

You efforts seem to lack focus. You say you won't become a Witness. You say that your girl friend won't listen to what you have found out about her religion. Don't you see that you are at am impasse? As I said to you on two other occassions, move on.

You have created threads that are totally irrelevent to the subject here such as: how does the GB live?, does the Society monitor this board?, do they teach anything that is good? What difference does any of this make? None whatsoever. Get a new girl friend, or as I suggested, start studying with her. Make up your mind.

There was a time when everyone was happy in 1950's. Jehovah's spirit had a free flow
and the org was humble. We knew there were mistakes like the house of princes in California
etc.and Russell and Rutherford had made mistakes We were not brow beaten and prodded,
the overseers left us alone we were quite poor and were content.we put our trust in Jehovah
and his beloved son.We knew the Watchtower was just a bible study aid, and we all studied the
Bible too .But the problems came from within not on the outside, materialism and cliques began to appear
and men who aready had Jehovah's dissaprooval were ambitiously gaining prominent
positions of responsibility. The weeds were being sown and the choking started. IF YOU
READ THIS AND YOU ARE OUT, THANK JEHOVAH YOU HAVE ESCAPED, IF YOU
READ THIS AND ARE STILL IN ,THEN FLEE! YOU DON'T WANT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE
    DO YOU.

I agree with much here, particularly larc's suggestions to Jerome, and I especially echo these words of Liberty's: "Just because a philosophy may have some practical rules or "good" values burried in it shouldn't justfy it or protect it from criticism. Nazism tought some "good" values that most people can agree with too but it was still evil in its totality". Amen to that!

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

What are they right about? Not much
#1They are correct in believing the God does indeed exist-- But they don't know who he is-- they don't stick to the Bible's teaching on it.
#2They believe the Bible is inspired by God but they don't trust it to speak for itself-- they must interpret it and they are always right- except when their wrong and then it's ok not to be perfect.
#3They believe in creation but aren't very intelligent to the scientific proof.
#4They try to be moral and good people but for the wrong reasons.
#5They try to show love but its always conditional and the Bible says even sinners love those who love them.
Much more almosts but not quites. They try but are mistaken.
