This study edition is an absolute attack on kids going to higher education, and you all are getting too cosy at home with your sky tv and the internet, get out on the doors you idle dogs.. Oh and if you have a good job already you could not be putting the kingdum first !

Here is some of the crap in the mag, and the article Temporary Residents In A Wicked World.

    10

In view of the imminent end of the

present system of things, as Jehovah’s servants

we realize that this is no time to settle

    downin this dyingworld.

    They make limited use

of the world to earn a living. They purchase

    necessary goods and servicesmade available

in the world. However, they avoid using

theworld to the full in that they keepworldly

possessions and occupations in the proper

    place.

    Vigilant Christians refrain from using

the world to the full with regard to higher

    education.

    Consequently,

young Christians are encouraged to pursue

spiritual goals, getting only as much education

as is required to meet their basic needs

while focusing on preparing themselves to

serve Jehovah ‘with their whole heart, soul.

    For example,

when young people get married, many

of them expect to ‘have it all’ right away—a

house or an apartment fully furnished and

well-equipped, a nice car, and the latest electronic

    devices. However, Christians who live

as temporary residents do not let their desires

go beyond what is reasonable and possible

for them. Indeed, it is commendable

that many forgo certain material comforts

in order to devote more time and energy to

Jehovah’s service as zealous Kingdom publishers.

When the hope of eternal life on earth

is fulfilled for the other sheep, they will no

longer be temporary residents in a wicked

world. They will have beautiful homes and

an abundance to eat and drink.

Neither the anointed nor the other

sheep will regret having lived as temporary

    residents in thiswickedworld.

What a crock and a waste of paper and ink. Sorry about the format but I am not good at posting the WT.

Any comments feel free to post.

They can go fuck themselves. Bunch of assholes living off 'voluntary contributions' of people who don't know any better. They'd all be working at Wal Mart if not for the poor schleps supporting their lifestyle.

The older I get, the more this shit gets me worked up...

I guess Luke, who was a physician (Colossians 4:14), wouldn't have been welcome as a JW.

    Too much frivolous, worldly education.

And that is why my JW sister's marital home is her mother-in-law's house, and why 13 years later, she works doing the same job she did at 16 (a JW's business) even though her A Level results were considerably better than mine, and she got accepted to 2 respectable Universities yet turned down both offers. What a waste!

Funny. They want the sheeple to live on the basics and only have enough for the necessities of life, but then a couple of pages later there's an article going into great detail about all the ways you can donate the surplus cash and assets you're not supposed to have to the WTS.

Yes, I have read this mag and it is one for the 'worst of' list.

ANNOMALY - I also appreciated the irony between the anti-college propaganda followed by the send-us-your-riches plea. Who the hell needs higher education when your cult members leave their estates in your name!

I realize that these types of articles are a reflection of the attitudes I get from my parents if I dare mention how well my children are doing in school. Just the other day I told my mother that my 10 year old son had scored advanced on all subjects in the state test and was reading at a 7th grade level (he was in 4th when this test occurred). My mother replied, "That's nice but let's hope he can keep it up."

I've made a mental note not to talk to my mother about such matters anymore.
