Great-grandmother gets secret boob job
An 83-year-old great-grandmother from California has spent nearly $8000 on breast implants, keeping it a secret from her family because she knew they wouldn't approve.
Marie Kolstad, who has been a widow for 20 years, has gone from a size 32A to a 36C but did not tell her family until the day before the two-hour surgery.
The property manager — who has four children, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren — decided to undergo surgery because she wanted to feel better about herself.
"It's something you dream about. I just wanted nice ones," she told the New York Times.
"I didn't want anything outlandish or out of place. Now they are firmer and rounder."
She said she wanted her children to be "proud" of how their mother looked, despite her children being "very upset" when they found out about her decision.
Her surgery reflects a growing trend among the ageing American population, as an increasing number of people in the 60s and 70s go under the knife, ABC News reports.
