    Out now.

Yes, yes, yessssss! On p. 26-27 they talk about how the lunar positions on VAT 4956 fit 588/7 BCE!!!

"Clearly, much of the astronomical data in VAT 4956 fits the year 588 B.C.E. as the 37th year of Nebuchadnezzar II. This, therefore, supports the date of 607 B.C.E. for Jerusalem's destruction - just as the Bible indicates." - p. 27.

    Muppets! LOL!

    The conclusion of the article:

At present, the majority of secular historians believe that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587 B.C.E. However, the Bible writers Jeremiah and Daniel clearly state that the Jews were in exile for 70 years, not 50 years. (Jeremiah 25:1, 2, 11; 29:10; Daniel 9:2) Those statements strongly indicate that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 B.C.E. As the above evidence shows, that conclusion has some secular support.

Secular experts have repeatedly questioned the Bible’s accuracy. Yet, when more evidence is uncovered, the Bible record has time and again been vindicated. Those who trust the Bible have good reason to do so. They base their opinion on proof that the Bible is historically, scientifically, and prophetically accurate. That evidence leads them to believe the Bible’s claim that it is the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16) Why not investigate the evidence for yourself ? You may well come to the same conclusion.

WTF? If it's 588/587, how can it also be 607???!!!

Yea, the Bible is the word of Jehovah! Why? Because He says so! Where? Right here, in the Bible! And how do we know we can trust the Bible? Because it's the word of God. Who says that? Jehovah himself! Where? In the Bible! And so on ad infinitum.

Remember this is the same organization that calculated prophecies using the steps of a pyramid.

    Great Pyramid of Giza (1876–1928)

The monument erected by the Watch Tower Society at C.T. Russell's grave in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania modeled after the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Influenced by the pyramidology theories of John Taylor and Charles Piazzi Smyth, Nelson Barbour and Charles Russell taught that the Great Pyramid of Giza contained prophetic measurements in "pyramid inches" that pointed to both 1874 and 1914. Russell viewed the Great Pyramid as "God's Stone Witness and Prophet". [ 73 ] [ 74 ] Smyth reviewed Russell's manuscript on the Great Pyramid before publication and Russell credited him and Scottish writer Robert Menzies for the view "that the Great Pyramid is Jehovah's 'Witness', and that it was as important a witness to divine truth as to natural science." [ 75 ] [ 76 ] Prophetic dates derived from the measurements inside the Great Pyramid were seen as complementary to biblical interpretations. Russell included the Great Pyramid as part of his film and color slide production The Photo-Drama of Creation in 1914, suggesting that the Great Pyramid was built by the Old Testament king-priest Melchizedek. [ 77 ] A special edition of the first volume of Studies in the Scriptures was also published, which was re-titled The Divine Plan of the Ages and the Corroborative Testimony of the Great Pyramid. [ 78 ] In accordance with Russell's wishes, a 7-foot (2.1 m) high replica of a pyramid was erected at his gravesite in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with its capstone "patterned after the capstone of the Great Pyramid of Egypt, symbolic of the Christ." [ 79 ] [ 80 ] [ 81 ]

Early Watch Tower publications cited "the testimony of the Great Pyramid" for expectations for 1910 and 1914.

Russell's interpretations of the Great Pyramid were supported by the writings of John and Morton Edgar who were prominent members of his movement. [ 82 ] [ 83 ] [ 84 ] Russell had first stated that 1874 was derived from a measurement of 3416 pyramid inches, [ 85 ] but the measurement was revised in the 1910 edition to 3,457 inches (87.8 m) to point to 1915. [ 86 ] The Edgars claimed that the revision in measurement and change in date was a result of errors made by Smyth. [ 87 ] In the early 1920s, the significance of the pyramidological predictions for 1914 were re-interpreted to mean that "the old evil order began to pass away in 1914." [ 88 ] [ 89 ] In 1924, an issue of Golden Age referred to the Great Pyramid as "the Scientific Bible" and added that measurements on the Grand Gallery inside the Great Pyramid confirmed the dates 1874, 1914 and 1925. [ 90 ] Similarly, the 1924 publication The Way to Paradise refers to the Great Pyramid as "the Bible in Stone" and concludes:

It is quite probable that Shem, son of Noah, a faithful servant of God, was in charge of its construction. In it have been discovered some of the deepest secrets of geometrical, geographical, astronomical, and mathematical science. The pyramid also outlines in its own peculiar way the same plan of God that we find in the Bible, and it dated beforehand some of the most notable events that have occurred in the history of mankind. It gives the date of the exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt, and the date of birth and death of Jesus. It gives the date of the French revolution as 1789, and the great World War as 1914, besides many more. It was built over five hundred years before Moses wrote any part of the Bible. It is so far in advance of the wisdom of that day that no man could have been the architect. Its harmony with the Bible teachings prove that God designed it. And anyway, who cares? 607 was the starting point for calculating 1914! and 1914 turned out to be a big hoax anyway.

Looks like I'll have to go through this and do some comparisons...

Basically, the argument goes, "There are some gaps in the record-keeping of the ancient Babylonians. Therefore there may have been other kings that we don't know about, and years would have to be added to the chronology." How this would add 20 years that nobody knows about, I'm not sure.

The second line of reasoning is, "VAT 4956 could also point to 588 as being Nebuchadnezzar's 37th year, making 607 the correct date."

I'm not sure how they would overcome all of the other evidence corroborating 568 as the 37th year. I guess that's why none of that is included.

I like this footnote on page 23

Note: None of the secular experts quoted in this article
hold that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 B.C.E.

Considering the footnotes in Watchtower publications can be real eye openers. While trying to present their point as fact in the main text, sometimes what they include in the footnotes gives an opposite picture, especially in the New World Translation.

Main text: This is the way we see it, we are God's Organization, we teach the Truth.

Footnote: Almost everybody if not everybody else views it a different way, they aren't part of God's Organization, they are under the influence of the 'ruler of the authority of the air'. Who's side are you on? God's or the Devil's?

The article glosses over the "lunar threes."

I beg the Apostate Nation to provide a clear and loud response to that article. I hope the brightest brains on this forum are already working on it. Truth shall win.

Here is a very strange paragraph, attempting to establish the year of VAT 4956 as 588 rather than 568. Can you spot the very WT-esque sleight of hand?

The tablet mentions a lunar eclipse that
was calculated as occurring on the 15th day
of the third Babylonian month, Simanu. It
is a fact that a lunar eclipse occurred on
July 4 (Julian calendar) of this month during
568 B.C.E. However, there was also an eclipse
    20 years earlier, on July 15, 588 B.C.E.
