1975 and the Worldwide Church of God (Herbert W. Armstrong) Not just jws pushed 1975

Anyone who was ever a member of the Worldwide Church of God would immediately recognize the artwork icon that is used on this Field Guide to identify pages dealing with the WCG. It is an illustration from a booklet titled The Book of Revelation Unveiled at Last! that was first published by the organization in 1959 and enthusiastically promoted and distributed from that time until the early 1970s. A similar booklet titled 1975 in Prophecy contained similar illustrations by the same artist. That one purported to establish the fact that Jesus was going to return to set up His Kingdom and inaugurate the Millennium on Earth by the year 1975. The set of these two pieces of literature combined may have been the most effective “evangelistic tool” ever used by Herbert Armstrong to attract members for the RCG/WCG.

The booklets were full of dire warnings of what was going to happen before the fateful date of 1975–a Great Tribulation was going to come upon the inhabitants of the Earth with uncontrollable world-wide famines, disease epidemics, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and more, on a scale never before experienced by mankind. By the end of the booklets, the subtle implication was that there was a way of escape from all these horrible events… for those who became members of the organization that was behind the publication of the booklets.

While modern science and industry strive to prepare for us a push-button leisure-luxury-world by 1975, United States Assistant Weather Chief I. R. Tannahill warns us unofficially to really fear "the big drought of 1975." But the indications of prophecy are that this drought will be even more devastating than he foresees, and that it will strike sooner than 1975-probably between 1965 and 1972!

Spending your vacation (usually during the most gorgeous week of summer), getting up at the crack of dawn, getting your whole family in dress clothes, driving to a stadium, standing in line to be the first in the door for a day of pure misery, waiting in line to pee in a hot bathroom that smells like grim death and eating a lunch that you have had stuffed under your ass all day, walking out like cattle to a parking lot 2 miles away pushing grandma in a wheelchair with a baby throwing up on you and doing it again the next day. NMKA-That just about sums up the DC experience. Except at the Pontiac Silverdome people were literally collapsing from the heat. That is what I remember the most- the heat. Intolerable, yet I did it for years.

They would love to be unique in something but they're not. They're just another false religion.

there's really not much that's unique to JWs. they copied here and there and some copied from them... the whole "where should we go to" is moot, once you do a little search. there are plenty of small groups who are so similar to the JWs you wonder why they aren't merging.

The Apostle Paul was resurrected in 1918 as the Bible says.

Jesus rejected every other church in 1918.

In April of 1919 Jesus Christ found a Faithful and Discreet Slave class publishing fine spiritual food to true believers and appointed these spirt-begotten believers over all His goods.

The FDS class recognize the authority of certain anointed men in Brooklyn and agree with all of their treachings although they are never consulted to verify the ongoing changes.

There are seven million Christians running around today without a spiritual birth, imputed righteousness, or a heavenly hope.

Come to the WT Organization for salvation. You will be destroyed at Armageddon otherwise.

those are the things they think they are unique on:

    1. God’s servants base their teachings on the Bible

that's an easy one... pretty much every christian religion bases their teachings on the bible.

    2. Those who practice the true religion worship only Jehovah and make his name known

in spanish speaking countries you can see "jehová" written on every other bus or truck.

    3. God’s people show genuine, unselfish love for one another

oh wow... is that so. i won't even comment that one

    4. True Christians accept Jesus Christ as God’s means of salvation

i think i've heard that last sunday from that evangelical tv-preacher too

    5. True worshipers are no part of the world

JW's don't even come close to the mennonites, amish, hutterites etc.

    6. Jesus’ true followers preach that God’s Kingdom is mankind’s only hope

that's a plain vanilla christian teaching. except that other churches sometimes even provide help and hope for the here and now, while still preaching the same message.

Greetings, dear Minimus, and peace to you!

    How about their vernacular:

    "Faithful and Discreet Slave"

    "Theocratic Ministry School"

    "Governing Body"

    "Pioneers/Auxilary Pioneers/Special Pioneers"

    "Bethel"

    "144,000"

    "Great Crowd"

    "Other sheep"

    "Partaking"

    "Memorial"

    "Kingdom Hall"

yada... yada... yada. (Pun absolutely intended)

By their WORDS... all will know... that they are "Jehovah's Witnesses"...

    Peace to you, dear one!

    A slave of Christ,

    SA

They are the only people who believe that a few assemblies held way back in the 1920's were actually the fulfillment of prophecy- the 'trumpet blasts' written in the book of Revelation 2,000 years ago.
