The mainstream churches are surprisingly refreshing compared to the meaningless repetitive drivel of the Watchtower Society. IMO every ex-JW should go to a church at least once to see what other options there are. The WTS don't own God or the Bible.

I want to thank everyone for their love and support. My head is still spinning from yesterday's service at MCCR.

@discreetslave: Thank you for your kind words. My journey continues and I am eager to press forward.

@troubled mind: It was indeed wonderful to see the difference between real worship and the formalistic religion that is the WTS.

@compound complex: The refreshment and strengthening I found at MCCR were in harmony with Christ's words at Matthew 11: 28-30.

@just fine: The difference between worshipping at this church and attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall was so real as to be practically tangible.

@ziddina: I came in business casual clothing and was definitely overdressed! People were attired the same way you saw them at the Catholic Church you visited. And then it occurred to me: Did people put on their "Sunday's best" to hear Christ preach? Definitely not! Next Sunday will see me dressed in line with what I saw others wearing. And it was good to see kids actually enjoying themselves in church!

@paulnotsaul: Thanks so much, my friend, for your kind words. I'm glad you checked out the MCCR website. It was really wonderful to experience what Christ actually taught and I am eager for my next meeting. I want to ease into this community, but my initial impression is that it will be a good fit for me. It says a lot when one of the ushers remembers your name when he bids you farewell. As for the Wednesday night programs, that is something I want to look into. I think I will benefit a lot from that.

@Mad Sweeney: My thanks to you for your kind words as well. And for those who don't know, my nickname "Quendi" comes from J.R.R. Tolkien's Silmarillion and means "Speakers". It was the name the first Elves gave to their kind as they had encountered no other creatures who either spoke a language or could sing.

@wobble: I'm so happy to know that you and Mrs. Wobble have found a faith community that has embraced you. Like your church, the MCCR service was alive with vibrant music, congregation participation, and a message that was both delightful and funny. We had a few laughs as the pastor poked fun at himself and some of the humorous situations he has dealt with. But most importantly, I could feel the kind of love I never got in a Kingdom Hall save from a very, very few. I hope I have found the community I've sought for so long.

@transhuman68: If Jehovah's Witnesses were to attend worship services at other churches, I think there would be a stampede out of the WTS. The contrast between what they would find elsewhere and what they get at the Kingdom Hall would make many realize that they need to change their religion.

Hi Quendi...I know this is an older thread, but, like I was doing with talesin, I was trying to peruse some of your old posts to try and know you a little better. For instance, I did not know (or forgot cuz my memory is crappy) that you were male...or gay YAY for gays ...lol

As I was reading your post, I understood what you were saying, and was almost in tears. I am SO happy you found a church where you not only felt comfortable in hearing what was being said on stage, but also within the congregation.

I sooo want to belong to a church who is accepting of GLBT. Not only that, but I want one that is highly into charity and serving others in need. I am also trying to locate one that has a GLBT youth/homeless outreach program, and I think I may have found one. I want to have a part in helping others, not judging or condemning others.

It seems you have found an excellent church to fit your needs I am curious to know if you have had time to continue attending, and what has transpired since your first visit.
