Hi Cofty, I would suggest summarizing what you want readers to do or be aware of at the begining of your letter and also using a a word processor to check your spelling and grammar. I am assuming that you are against building the KH because of the WTBTS' doctrine against education and leadership. You might want to emphaze the WTBTS' doctrines that are against basic human rights that you have personally experienced.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

Perhaps "Koolaid" would be better than using "Red Pill"?

Can anybody find the thread that reported on the recent elders school that made clear elder's qualifications would be reviwed if their children went to college? I don't make any claims about what discipline would be involved. Any action against somebody for pursuing education is a scandal. The quote from the very recent WT may be sufficient without the reference to elders.

Can anybody help with a more recent quote regarding apostates? The '52 quote is a stunner though!

If you can find any spelling or grammar errors Biblestudent please let me know. I can't. Don't forget we spell some things differently this side of the pond.

I was raised in the sect and was an elder in the Berwick congregation before being ousted for “apostasy” in 1996. I still have close family members in the organisation and I have no hesitation in saying that there are plenty good people among its ranks. Shortly we will all be invited to marvel at the astonishing speed and efficiency of their building project. If they opt for their well rehearsed “quick-build” method the hall will appear at a rate that will astonish their new neighbours.

On the west-side of the pond, I would replace "organisation" with "organization" and "neighbours" with "neighbors" in the preceeding paragraph and in subsequent paragraphs. If you just want to pop off on the WTBTS, your letter is fine the way it is. If you want to educate "Worldly' people about the duplicity and dangerous cult characteristics of the WTBTS, I would write a summary about that and reference experts like Steve Hassan. Most people don't understand how dangerous cults like the WTBTS can be to people.

    Cheers,

Possibly too long for a letter for publication. It's unlikely they would reproduce those long WT and Awake citations with the abbreviations; you're better to summarise the statements in a sentence of your own. But good thoughts throughout your letter and well expressed.

    I'm in England

As an ex-JW I am more of an expert on JWs than Hassan is.

Thanks for all your input so far.

    1. Red pill is coming out.

    2. Elders being sanctioned if children go to uni might come out if I can't find a source.

    3. Need a more recent quote about apostates or shunning.

    4. Might include a link to Freeminds or JWFacts

My honest opinion: The vicar will love your letter but it reads in part like a cheap shot against the witnesses. You make claims that anyone who knows the JWs will readily refute (the comments about higher education are full of assertions that the average JW could successfully counter).

I'd rate your letter 4 out of 10. I'm sure the vicar would rate it higher.
