Notice their concern is with the "notoriety" a pedophile has. . . . BOTR
Yes I did notice that. I also noticed that the letter was exclusively concerned with itself (the Organisation) . . . and the offending brother, and how and when he can be utilised. Not a single mention of the victim(s) . . . who might still be in the same congo.
Or is this a Bible problem as opposed to a religious sect problem? . . . ThomasCov
It can't really be one or the other IMO . . . there are many Bible principles which could be applied to protect vulnerable children. You could blame the Bible . . . but when a cult cherry-picks which scriptural principles it chooses to apply . . . thus exposing vulnerable children to harm . . . I hardly think that's exclusively the Bibles fault.
Can they be faulted for this line of reasoning from a Biblical viewpoint? . . . ThomasCov
Interestingly, . . . there is not a single reference to paedaphilia or similar in the Bible (that I can find) . . . it even encourages the sparing of young girls "who have not been with a man" when conquering God's enemies. Innocence and vulnerability is still referred to however . . .
Proverbs 18:5 (NIV) It is not good to be partial to the wicked and so deprive the innocent of justice.
Proverbs 24:24 (NIV) Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations.
James 1:27 (NIV) Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.
The WTS approach relies on the rigid application of specific texts coupled with a total ignorance of the nature of the problem.
