And have you researched to see if the pastor is correct inhis interpretation of the passage?
I am officially sick of hearing the WBT$'s brand name for god = Jehovah!

PSac - I think for me at least, I accept what is said if it makes sense as it isn't anything dangerously doctrinal. EG the tower of Babel and the confusion of languages was explained as a parable on the value of working together. That works for me.
What is said makes sense and isn't couched in logical fallacies or loaded language. I find with research, I end up researching everyone's own interpretations that all seem quite plausible and I end up thinking to myself: 'Ah, what the heck. Christian freedom....I'll see what makes most sense.'
I'm one of those geezers that feels 'absolute truth' doesn't really exist.

Well... how did you think about those very things when you were a JW?
My point is that most JW's took what was "fed to them" by the WT as "gospel" and never much researched if there was any difference of opinions and what they were and if they were valid.
The last thing you'd want is to fall back into the same "mindset".

Psac - I have to admit my mindset is radically different to when I was a JW to the extent I'm not going to be told by organized religion or any bloke anything that makes me act contrary to the real me.
I am asking all the questions in my 50's that I should have asked as a teenager I s'pose. My concept of God isn't mainstream anymore and there are days when atheism or agnisticism (as I understand the terms), seem more accurate.
If I'm taking anything away from going to the Baptists and sometimes an Anglican Church is that it provides me with a good feeling and they promote charitable works...giving something to the community.
God? Dunno. Real or not? Dunno. Not worried right now, the trauma of exiting a dangerous cult was bad enough for the time being!
If you can suggest any light reading I'd be obliged.

punkofnice - It's that simple. I'm sick up to here (guestures to above head), of hearing the dubs trot out their brand name for their imaginary sky friend who is so loving they're petrified he'll murder them SOON!!!!!
Don't you mean the JWs' god(s) (GB) in Bethel? The WTBTS seems to be indoctrinating JWs to believe in the GB's divine guidance rather than divine guidance from Our Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. I must give the WTBTS credit for being very good at thought reform. I can only hope and pray that Our Father and Jesus Christ are getting really pissed off at them and change will be coming very soon.
Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

The fact that you question is a good thing, " Test all that you are taught" is what the bible tells us.
