I was fortunate to stay at Pattison, and to visit some Bethelites in a guesthouse. The conditions at Walkill farms were overcrowded, and some Bethelites were literally sleeping on floors with sleeping bags. But, they did have cable.
The ones that lived at this particular guesthouse was a Mature Couple (they were the house masters) and some single Bethelites that worked on the farm. It was a nice home. I don't begrudge such ones living in those homes. They work hard for that, and certainly deserve shelter. I just feel bad that there financial future is horrible and they have to depend on the Government's subsidies to care for them for their future. It seems that they always are dependent on handouts.

I knew several from our area that stayed in those brownstones while they were permanent Bethelites. Four young men in one large room in fact. At one time space was pretty tight and it was easier to buy brownstones nearby than go through all the paperwork of building new buildings. When the Sands was built, that problem cleared up to a great degree. The WTS remodeled the Bossart and the Standish Hotels for the same reason. As I understand it, rooms were allotted based on seniority, number of years in full-time service and rooms only opened up if the senior member bid for a new room or left that particular Bethel complex.

I'm sure that these rooms have been staged for sale and don't resemble the original setup when Bethelites were in there. It is unlikely that there would be a dining room setup since Bethelites have access to meals in the common dining halls. Also, it is unlikely that there would only be one bed in a room that size when used by Bethelites. This is set up to sell to a family. No kitchen is shown which could be due to the original setup to serve Bethelites.
