I like Skeeter's idea for an "Undercover JW Dissenter Flash Mob!"

Imagine if all the dissenters wore bright orange this Sunday at the WT!!!

Of course, how would the local elders know unless they're among us or dis-obedient lurkers. They could NEVER admit to that!

If they do away with shunning how many would walk out? Easily more then 50,000 maybe 100,000. If they commanded the believer to love the non believer and keep the family unit togther how many would walk out? 500,000? Shame them into doing those two things and it's a whole new ball game.

And then next week a different color, and then ...

Also, you could work in a Secret Code Word into your comments during the meeting. Something innocuous enough so as to not arouse suspicion, but uncommon so that those "in the know" would recognize it.

After a few weeks of this then the dissenters would all know each other and the rest would remain blissfully ignorant.

Maybe this should be its own thread!

Count me in. I would love to throw the towel in if shunning were abolished

It's interesting the responses that discount the possibility of a Mass Defection due to fear of the negative implications.

It's really kind of ironic when you think of it: "I'm afraid to leave because if I do everyone might shun me!"

I believe if they abandon the shunning, it will have

A reverse affect, not A mass defection , you would see

more show up at the meeting. Reason.

    1) many young ones born in know nothing else,

but the JW. Attend the sunday meetings only, no

repercussion if you do not attend the other meetings.

2)In the past few years many have left, but how

many have learn the truth about the truth. These would

    return.

    3) No door to door, no repercussion.

    4) How many of you would have left the organization

completly if it wasn,t for the shunning and leading you

    to research the organization.

I think that knowing you are not alone in your crisis of faith is tremendously empowering. The wheels are coming off of the bus.

If they changed their view on shunning this week, they could change it back next week.

Many who DAd themselves did so at the time when it just made you equivalent to a "man of the world" or to someone who was never a JW, thus no shunning. Shortly after the Ray Franz defection the WT$ policy changed so that anyone who DAd was treated the same as someone DFd for "wickedness".
