It isn't a translation issue, T.O. it is an INTERPRETATION issue. ONLY THE WATCHTOWER interprets 1 Timothy 6:4 as applying to people who leave THE Watchtower ORGANIZATION.
Should not those who protect "Mentally Diseased" be outraged?

I'm trying to remember if Jesus said this. Paul was the first hijacker of what Jesus taught and brought his own twist on things. This is pretty disgusting. They don't seem to be able to learn a lesson.

EXCELLENT, Gayle! That is a great idea. There is an huge lobby for the mentally ill, and yes, it is disgusting that they chose to use this term.
Even if you aren't Canadian, I suggest you also send it to the CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Ass'n), as they will be very interested.

ONLY the New World Translation uses the words "Mentally Diseased" in their translation at 1 Timothy 6:4.

Don't perpetuate lies if you can help it. Your point is that no other translation uses "the exact same wording to the letter" as the NWT. But that is really a false dichotomy, because Bible translations can vary greatly in the wording. If you want similar levels of "harshness" and tone though, then there are lots of Bibles to choose from:

The WBT$ used that scripture to insinuate something other than fighting over words. They used it to create fear & instill hatred. They are using the Bible in a way similar to those behind the inqusition or witchhunts.
What's ironic about that scripture is that how other religions view JW's always ready to go toe to toe with someone over the cross, trinity, or christmas -

I agree, discreetslave. The Watchtower uses the scripture to show that anyone who does not agree with the teaching of the Governing Body is "mentally diseased". That's preposterous. Simply because we want to inform others of the Watchtower's many failings should not be dismissed as a "mental" problem. That is hate speech, plain and simple, meant to provoke hate.
Greybeard. no one is whinning about it. We are just pointing out the ridiculousness of the Watchtower's stand.

If apostates are mentally diseased for rejecting Watchtower theology and not believing WBTS interpretation and application of scripture (which begs the question, who really are the apostates?) then technically all 2-billion-plus Christians, Catholics and Protestants, etc., are also mentally diseased.
As outrageous as the "mentally diseased" statement is, it should not be prohibited; free speech is paramount. Religious hate laws as found in Britain and Canada are contrary to the American Bill of Rights and Constitution. Most of the posters here would be in violation of those laws. Better to illustrate how former JW apostates are not really apostates, and that the Society is the culprit, that their bizarre theories are utterly incorrect and unscriptural. We prove that day in and day out here and elswhere.

1. You insert ellipses into your quote for the sole purpose of removing the Scriptural reference, so that it appears that the WT and the WT alone is making that statement out of thin air with no context.
2. You also deliberately change the double quotation marks to single quotation marks, which is just a further attempt to cover up the fact that the phrase is a direct quote from the Bible.
How do you expect anybody to take you seriously when you are so deceptive and unethical in your quoting?
